5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I've seen the subject of Tein H. Tech springs brought up around here quite a bit but no real detail or personal accounts have been provided yet. I was wondering if anybody installed some on a Gen 5. If so, the basic questions apply about ride comfort, bottoming out, pot holes, scrubbing, handling, etc.. Thanks.

I had a suspension thread about a day ago maybe that's why no one's replying but from what I've heard ride comfort people said it's about stock, handling better but not as stiff as trd/eibach, potholes and scrurring wise they said you have to learn how to drive a lowered car otherwise it's fine take it slow over potholes go diagnor on higher ramps etc.
I'm waiting for my trd they lower the car about .2 '' less than the teins so I went with those because of the Boston roads, but good luck hope this was of some help

I haven't heard of Tien .... do they cost less than Eibach or TRD?
^Are you serious? You've never heard of Tein? Tein is one of the largest and one of the most reputable aftermarket suspension manufacturers in the market.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

I guess I am out of the loop ... never heard of them before

Nothing wrong with H. Techs... its a good quality spring. But H. Techs are more towards OEM replacement than they are for a sporty type suspension. H. Techs only drop about 1", and a a bit more stiff than stock. I guess with H. Techs you'd probably just feel as if you bought the car new. Thats about it.

So will the 1'' drop make any noticable improvements in handling? I'd think it would but just not as dramatic as a TRD or S Tech drop. I wanted to improve handling a little, make the car look sportier but not to the point that you can tell quickly by looking at it that it was dropped, and keep the vast majority of ride comfort. I also hate scrubbing and bottoming out. That's why I've been looking at the H. Techs. And Kilrcam, who is 'Dido'? LOL.

I just bought an Eibach prokit last week. I was going to buy Tein S.Tech.'s.
Why did I go eibach you ask?
Teins are a little bit cheaper, and yes they apparently do drop the car ever so slightly more. I talked to two different guys from 2 different shops about the difference between the two and both stated that Teins are equally good springs initially ***BUT*** tend to sag after a couple of years. Now this may be desirable by some, but i wasn't willing to take the chance for a difference of $30cad and a .2 inch extra drop initially. Maybe they took me for a fool, maybe they make more money selling the eibachs, i don't know but i didnt want to risk additional sag and i trust the guy's opinions as being legit.
All up to you.
ps. install and pics finally coming soon.
