Gen5 *****Gen 5.5 SE V6 Guys*****

For you guys with the 3MZ, have any of you guys used a Camcon VVT-i controller?? Or even a Cp-E Intake with the MAF Customizer™. The MAF Customizer is a piggyback style ECU that allows the user to tune air/fuel ratios.

Now, the solaraguys have used the cp-e intake and are crazy about it, but I have yet to hear of anyone doing the camcon on a 3MZ. I am thinking of doing one or the other to my girl's car, shit maybe both, but One of the guys' that has the cp-e intake says they both do the same thing.

Also, there is a group buy for Actual Headers and Y-pipe from JP for the 3MZ-FE, a little expensive..... But might be worth it.

wow that cool man but i have the injen sri so i don't need the cp-e. for the camcon i think that a good idea maybe you can install the spuercharger from the 1mzfe cuz you can control the vvt-i.

The intake has nothing to do with vvt-i, it is available for the 1MZ, a lot of guys with the Gen1 Solara have them, it tunes the Air/fuel.

Having tuned Hondas in the past I would be cautious about this unit working. With OBDII ECUs if your product tunes or changes parameters within the part-throttle zone it will alter the the long-term-fuel-trim which is what the ECU relies on for wide-open throttle fuel maps. By altering sensor readings full time the ECU will "see" these readings when taking samples from the O2 sensor and keep adjusting the Short-Term-Fuel-Trim to reach optimum.

For Hondas your piggyback must have all adjustments above 32-35% throttle position (which they determine as the crossover point). I couldn't find where this intake will do this in the Toyota. They've gotta prove that before I drop that much money on a tuning product. Otherwise the stock ECU will just de-tune the gains it started with.

Anybody know?
