5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Most models dont come standard with alarm, Is an option. Why bother to buy a Toyota because no alram? Wow, dont be so negative because of that please. Did you not research the car and look at the specs before you bought it?

JSM has got a point. The only cars that I know of that come with a stock alarm are Hyundai's. Every Toyota I've had or my family has owned, never came with a stock alarm. You need to pay extra for an alarm. Besides, with the amount of money factory alarms cost these days, you're just better off getting an aftermarket alarm.
No more Toyota because of no standard alarm? That is a silly statement. There are several Mercedes models which come with no alarm standard. If a Mercedes doesn't have it standard, why should a Toyota?
If you're interested in protecting your investment, then BUY an alarm system.

The stock alarm isn't the best anyways, now's your chance to buy something better from aftermarket companies. Check out the DEI range of companies and their offerings.
Why offer an "Optional Glass Breakage Sensor" if the factory remote locks do not "notify" of an unauthorized door opening?
I never checked on my 2007 Camry but... On my Sequoia which has factory remote and "no alarm' or glass breakage sensor, when the doors are locked with the FOB and then a door is opened, the panic alarm goes off... In fact the hood is even latched so that if it were opened the panic alarm goes off.
How hard is it for Toyota to kickoff the panic alarm if a door is opened without being unlocked using the fob?
thing is on my 04 ad 07 they both dont have it but on the 04 it has the little security light.. i always thought it had a alarm but when i tested it it never worked...

Ha ha ha. Uh, that means you DO have an alarm. That's exactly what the factory alarm is - there is no siren, it is hooked up to the horn. As far as your last question, that's exactly what the Toyota OEM alarm is.
To the OP - your 2005 LE does not have an engine immobilizer. I just got an alarm installed on my car. This way I now have an alarm as well as a starter kill. BTW, the alarm on your old Nissans were (I'm sure) the useless type that just makes noise. Starter kill > noisy alarm with no other features.

^ i dont even think i really need a alarm...whos going to break in a camry...its stock...has nothing to steal and its a CAMRY!
this ain't exactly true. in the US Camry's and Accords have been the top stolen vehicles for the longest time. Just because both cars have interchangable parts and easy to strip.
