How long after an oil change does this light usually come on? Have only driven 2k miles since last OC and its already on. Kinda early?

Did you get the oil changed at 3k? If so, they probly didnt reset the light.

I notice my light come on every 5K (at 4,500 it starts flashing then go away but will stay steady after 5K) so SM1284, you are making a very good guess that he problably changed his oil at 3k

I have about 5k mi on the clock right now and I already had 2 oil changes - first @ 700mi (self) and the last one @ 3k mi by the dealer, only b/c I had an appt for something else so might as well let them do it but I usually change my own oil. What brand of oil do you guys use?

Thats why, It was never reset. It comes on at 5k. turn your trip to Trip a, turn off ignition, Hold trip button down while you turn ignition to the on position, continue holding trip button till "00000" appears then release, light will now come on at 10k

Still on factory oil @ 4,800 Miles (Changing this weekend)

Few Questions:

Is it normal for the engine to idle at a higher (than normal) RPM on warm up when oil gets dirty?

Should I take it easy with the oil being this old?

When is it ok to switch to synthetic?

Will dealer put in synthetic upon request?

-Thanks

The engine is designed to idle high on startup. No need to "take it easy" you should always be gentle with it, but it will handle anything you can throw at it.

I switched to synthetic "Royal Purple" at 5K. Once you changed to synthetic just stay with synthetic (don't go back and forth)
