hey guys i was over in *************.com and a guy that lives by me with a really nice celica recommended me to this tinting/mechanics place that he frequents a lot. i went over there and no offense to him, but it was pretty much a hole in the wall. i told the guys over there that i was recommended by him to get my tints there and i was quoted $140 for all my windows @ 20%, Johnson film. just wondering what you guys thought about this? does it sound like a good deal or should i keep shopping around? i forgot to ask about warranty and pics of other tint jobs, but i feel if the guy i talked to recommended this place to me, i can trust him. just looking for feedback. thanks!

I noticed you're from Queens, NY. I might be interested in getting it done also for $140 if quality/workmanship is good. Let me know if you are going ahead with it and keep me posted or you can give me your guy's name and address and I'll check it out also. BTW, I live in Rego Park!

wdf...140 get outa here, when i got mine i was quoted 100 bucks no matter what type of tint i used at the place i got it at in the bronx. It maybe that because you have the 7 windows to get tinted while i only had 5 (the side windows and the rear) i think you got the two small triangled windows next to the rear side passenger windows thats why it come up so much but its still a bit too pricey fro tints

Johnson films is not bad...i've had their high performance tint on my rav4 for over 5 years...and they are holding up well. JUst make sure they warrant for bubbling and color fading.
ok well i gave it some more thought and im going to call the place my uncle got his new STS tinted. my uncle is really into his cars so i trust his judgement more. if i recall correctly, he did say that it would cost closer to 200 to go to this guy but i know for sure that i would be getting quality work. im going to call tmrw and maybe drop by and talk to him in person. ill update tmrw
Make sure you know what type of tint you want before geting things set in stone. CUz i know many people, as well as me, that don't like the charcoal or black look tint look. I'd go for a high performance tint..that has a different hue...most of them usualy have reflective.mirrorish type look to it..but like i said thats just me. I;d go researching before getting soemthign installed. I mean a good installer is a must...but you also have to get the right tint.

ive been looking at tintdude and tintcenter at their forums and read about different tint. im leaning towards a hybrid tint but i will see what this shop has and then i will do research on their different tint..

My sis and her friend got their tints done in the BX for 100.00 (by recommendation) and within 3-4 weeks, the tint started peeling on both cars. And thats after the guy took his sweet time doing it. Every location is different and in alot of cases, you pay for what you get. And in her case, it was a hole in the wall spot.
I got my old corolla tinted in North Bergen, NJ (where I'm from) and I paid 200.00 for 35% but I NEVER had an issue with the tints. It only started fading after 6 years of having the car, but by then I bought a new one. I know the guy in NJ is still there and from what my mom said, when she passes by there on saturday's, he's open (which is new..he used to work "bank hours").
He does awesome work! Down here in VA I had 4 different cars tinted and each time, I had an issue with something. And I paid top dollar to get them done. In 2 cases, they did not offer a warrenty for labor or tint cause I got "illegal" tint.
If you live in Queens...there is this place in the bronx that I got my tints done from a little less than a year from now go there I highly recommend it...they warranty the tints for life and they come out perfect....you gotto take the Hutchinson Pkwy north and take the exit for Boston Post Rd (I believe its number 7) the place is called Bronx Audio
I got my speakers and my tints done from them and it was quick and easy (100bucks for tint). they a pretty decent place

ok so i got my tint done today by the place my uncle recommended to me.. it was funny cuz i bumped into my uncle there when i brought my car b/c he had to get his rear window re-done on his STS cuz someone broke it.. but yea.. 20% all around for 180.. guy has been tinting for 20+ yrs and he took about 3 hrs.. one piece rear window, all the way to the top on the other windows.. he had to redo my front drivers side b/c the window was being held on too tight at the top. tint looks good and he said any problems just give him a call. seemed like a real stand-up guy that backed his work 120%.. will take pics when i get a chance.. got a LOOONG day at work tmrw..
