Camry Audio Issue

I have had my LE since September. The last month or so I have noticed i have to turn my radio up very loudly, especially on highways to get sound that can be heard. I need to have it from the low to mid 30's to low to mid 40's. This was never the case before. it is very quiet on siruis, am/fm and cd. If i play with the ASL setting it will get louder but then distort the aftermarket sub. Everythign is original factory except for the Infinity 10" self powered sub in the trunk.....anyone else have this happen?? Any ideas what is going on with my deck and or speakers? Any and all info is appreciated ...thank you!

Have you tried turning up the treble on the radio settings? Then play with the ASL. I've noticed that when set to high, it'll sound better when you're driving on the highways. I had to do that when I added the bass tube in my car.

How big is your bass tube? Did you installed in your trunk? Pictures please...

I might be...what model are they? how long have you had them and used them and for what type of use? I think it is a power issue with the head unit though....would a bad groun with the subwoofer cause it anyone think?

How much would you want for the four? I am not lookign to upgrade but if it was inexpensive enough I might take them off your hands...let me know

I have the self powered SAS Tube. Play with the controls on the amp to see if that works. If it worked fine before the tube, then its the settings on the tube. also, are you sure you tapped into the right speaker wires?

It doesn't hurt to check the ground. Just make sure its not grounded to anything thats painted.

This is what I was taught to do with the tube. turn the settings all the way down on the amp. turn on the radio and turn it up to a volume that you would normally listen to. then slowly turn up the settings on the amp until its something to your liking. That way it doesn't sound distorted.

Also try different CD's to see if it works okay. I have a few CD's that aren't loud enough..some radio stations sound different as well. It could be a number of things my first thought with your issue are the settings.

If all else fails, disconnect the sub and see how it works without it. if its still the same, then you may need to replace the interior speakers.

THe thing that gets me though is that it is intermitant. It is not always so quiet all the time. But I have had a hunch it is the ground on the sub as well because it is not connected well...most of the copper wire is bound before it actually hits the bolt. Also it is screwed between bare metal and painted metal. I put it between hte bol on the right side where the jack is. Should I just scrape the paint? How would a bad ground on the sub cause the interior speakers to get quiter? and not all the time but only sometimes? Thank you for the feedback and helping to educate me...appreciate it.

ASL Problem

Don't know if this helps but my ASL when turned on does NOTHING. Its in the dealer as we speak for the 2nd time. There have been a few other posts about this problem on this and other forums. When my ASL is turned on it does not raise the volume as it is suppose to. Doesn't matter if your doing 10 or 70 mph. In looking in the Audio/Visual shop manual for the 07 (Pages AV-120 to AV123) it shows that the ASL is connected to the speed sensor. The problem is that in order to diagnose the problem they need to get to the wiring harness. Lots of work!!!! I will post when the dealer tells me what the problem is.

Hope this helps,
Bob

I forgot where I ran my ground to. I have to check but that wont' be until tomorrow cause its raining outside today. I paid extra attention to the radio last night going home and I had to set the volume at 30-35 and it was to the point that if I were to speak to someone, I'd have to raise my voice a bit. AND the bass was hitting hard too.

I also check the settings and everything is the same, bass set to 3 or 4, treble set to 5, Fader set to 0 and left and right set to 0. ASl was set to the highest. I put on different songs and each song had a different volume level to it (it was a burned cd though).

This is what I would do. Find a better ground first off. But when you take out the ground, disconnect the bass tube so there's no power going to it. Turn on the radio and listen to it. See if it sounds the same as when the bass tube was connected. if it does, then it could be the radio or speakers (I'd lean more towards the radio). If it sounds better, then it has to be the bass tube. If thats the case, then I'd check your wiring and your settings on the amp.
