Parking brake adjust

I found some instruction on adjusting my parking brake, but they're not very clear.

What is the shoe adjust hole plug?

It should be in the rotor, where the wheel mounts.

The plug is on the back of the backing plate, it should be rubber, or it may be a metal peice you need to tap out.

Thanks for the replies. I kept scrolling through the manual and found what I needed.

I think JSM might have been thinking of drum rear brakes. My 00 had drums in the rear and the adjust was on the backing plate IIRC.

I finally got around to adjusting the parking brake on my car some 8 months later.

Anyhow, the diagram for the adjuster is backwards or I'm looking at it wrong. To expand the shoe, you push the teeth facing you upwards. In the diagram, if you rotate the screwdriver in the direction of the arrow it would work - to me it looks like that's the direction that the adjuster is supposed to rotate.

I took the above diagrams from the Gen 6 repair manual. I would suspect that the procedure is similar on Gen 5s.

There is also a procedure to adjust brake handle travel that is omitted from the above diagram.
