Aftermarket leather, audio question..

Just bought an SE-I4.. How much should I expect to pay for an aftermarket leather job? I am also going to have an indash GPS installed; will the steering wheel audio controls work with aftermarker radios?

Gen6

Aftermarket leather kits usually run around 500 or so. Additionally, there is usually installation of anywhere between 200-500 (Unless you want to do it yourself).

If you upgrade the stereo you will lose steering wheel controls. I don't believe (Or at least I haven't seen) a PAC adapter to allow you to use the stock steering wheel controls. In fact, when you change out your stereo, the buttons on the wheel won't even light up anymore.

Interesting.. would you reccommend having Toyota order and install the leather for me?
I'm looking into an Eclipse indash nav unit; I read somewhere that it works with the wheel controls b/c of the type of wiring harness it has? I'm clueless when it comes to audio, so I figured I'd ask before I shell out a grand for the unit. Thanks for the help..

eclipse nav units typically work with the steering wheel controls as the factory toyota unit and eclipses are both made by fujitsu ten... so as long as you have an installer that doesn't suck, they'll work...

katzkin is the aftermarket leather of choice.

I paid about 950 total for my upgrade. Labor was about 750 and the leather upgrade kit (which includes all doors too) was 250 bucks off of ebay. It's actually a stock leather kit which matches my interior perfectly. I took mines to an upholstery shop near my house.

The dealer was trying to charge me nearly 3 g's for the total upgrade.

You can probably go cheaper with an aftermarket kit though. My buddy upgraded his 07 Accord interior to leather for 650-700 including the materials at the same shop with an aftermarket kit.

But you can save a lot more money than I did if you try to install everything yourself. I just didnt have time.
