5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I was looking through the newspaper this morning, and I found the ad I've been trying to find for a while now. I am really thinking about getting one of these cars, feel free to post some comments.
Good Luck Geoff5093! I think you have a better chance of getting hit by lightning...how can any dealer sell any base model Camry when invoice goes for $20.9K? Keep us posted as this would be a first!

I've been through this runaround years ago... The story goes like this.
The dealer has such a great turn out on from the ad that he's out of stock on the "low-ball" cars... So he starts selling the ones on his lot which came with many more options than the "stripped model" advertised. It'll run the price up a few $1000 which would put you right back in the range of pricing had you never seen the ad and went into the dealer to buy a Camry CE, about $18-$19K.
This used to be even more common when most cars came with options like A/C, ABS, Airbags, etc... These items are pretty much standard now, so it took most of the fun out of it for the dealers, because they could pump these up as necessary safty/comfort items they could talk you into adding... Like, "For only $20 more a month you can add the comfort and convenience of A/C." When in fact they had no cars on the lot without A/C.
I'm not familiar with the options available on a CE, but I doubt you'll ever walk away with the EXACT deal written in the ad, they'll "upsell" you somehow.
They talked about these ads on the news a few weeks ago... They even called up a bunch of dealers and how they refused to comment about the ad. looks for the fine prints and yes... this ad only shows one car.
I know for a fact this is true, because back in 2003 we found a brand new 2003 Camry LE 5-spd for around $15K as well, and my parents went there and bought it. I dont think it was a demo either.

Back in '03 the list price of that Camry was probably $17K.
Im on the phone right now with them, and they said its a brand new car, not a demo. And every weekend they advertise a car for that price, so its not like all the camry ce's are that price.

As I said earlier, every weekend they have a single car for that price, the ones in the ad is actually in transit but is brand new with no real mileage. And I asked and it's black.
THe only thing standing between me and the car is having my parents let me get it ASAP, haha

If it's a bare bones CE it lists at $19090 with destination.
Invoice is $17518.
So you're going to get it for over $2500 under invoice?
