Hi,
I just installed TRD springs on my 06 Camry last weekend. The ride now is bumpier, but cornering is rigid. I like it.
During the installation, I found out one of the struts has small oil leak. The strut is wet, the others are dry. I want to take it to dealer to have it fix or replace a new one.
My question is if this is still cover by the warranty. My concern is the dealer can say something like I void the warranty because the TRD springs were installed by the 3rd party. Anyone has this experience before? Or know anything about this?

So they weren't installed by the dealer? Hm....your in a pickle then. TRD parts shouldn't cause issues since they've been tested. But the springs are probably the reason why they are leaking and on their way out. Go try a dealer, if it doesn't work go to another one.
The springs aren't going to cause your struts to leak.
The dealer should have no problem covering the strut under warranty. If the refuse, call Toyota directly and complain. TRD parts when used in the propere application will not void any of your warranty.
You should tell them the leak was there when you took the tire off...It's all about what you say.

TRD springs are not aftermarket. TRD stands for Toyota Racing Development.
Changing the springs does not void any warranty.
In his case, he got the TRD springs but was not installed by the dealership. I think its the same situation as getting a TRD s/c installed outside the dealership and having a failure.

That will only matter if the strut was damaged when the springs where installed. Toyota cannot warranty someone else's work.

Changing the springs does not void any warranty.
And TRD is aftermarket. TRD is NOT Toyota-owned (anymore). It is an independent company that makes parts for Toyotas. Just because it is offered at the dealership does not mean its not aftermarket.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.
JSM1284, thanks for the very useful info.
I think my strut is the level 4 leak. Well according to the TSB, the dealer will not do anything to it. Now I just worry about the strut fails after the warrenty then I have to pay from my pocket.

An update:
Today I took my car to the dealer for an inspection. The service guy said I will be charged $37 for inspection if it's not covered by warranty. He also said If the car has been mod or lowered it is not under warranty. Then I just told he straight what I have done on my car and arrgued that he cannot void the warranty just b/c I worked on my car. I said I need a detailed report to prove what I have done something wrong. Then he backup and said he will do a full inspection to determine if it's still under warranty.
At the end of the day I got a call, I went back to pick up my car. He placed an order for a new strut. He could not find I did anything wrong. He told me this was the "gray area". He decided just have it fix and satisfy me.
This is the second time I took my car back to the dealer. first time is the water pump rattling (had it replaced). Now it's the strut leaking. My car only 20K miles and less than 1.5 years. Now I am little doubt about toyota's reliability. Hopefully, all problems appear b4 warranty end. Then I don't need to worry and pay later.
