hey guys i know im in the wrong section but i know that u guys can help me out quick..
my gf's 06 corolla was vandalized.. her drivers side mirror was stolen. i was wondering if this was covered under warranty? if not, what could i tell them so she doesnt have to pay? she was really distraught when she saw this and she isnt having a great day to begin with.. thanks guys!
Dont quote me or anything, but I highly doubt the warranty would cover it. Most likely it's her insurance company that would pay for the damages, if she has collision coverage and a low deductible.
I dont think theres anything you can tell Toyota to make them think the mirror just fell off.
Thats definately an insurance company issue. Hopefully she got a police report for it and notified the insurance company. Although, I'm not sure if she has to pay a deductible.
The insurance will only cover the vandalism if your GF has Comprehensive coverage on her policy. Collision will not cover this. Furthermore, most likely she would have a $250 deductible (maybe more) which I would expect might be more expensive than the mirror itself (assuming that the mirror isn't heated, motorized, etc). It might be better to just have it replaced without involving insurance.
PS - The Toyota warranty would definately not apply to this.

I agree with all the other posters; this is an insurance issue or something she will have to pay for out of pocket, depending on the insurance deductible. I would call around to a few salvage yards in your area in hopes that you can find one for her in the same color. If you can't find one locally, try this website:
Hey, Queens, forget about the mirror, you got lucky, you know here in New York City, they take the whole car. get lojack dude, they may come back for more parts...

I agree with rico8458! Anyone knows if you value your stuff you will find a way to either tie, bolt, weld, or risk losing it overnight. I remember my first car, a 1972 Pontiac Venture with inline six. First week I had it I parked it in a locked secure private parking lot. Next day to get my car the whole vehicle was sitting on 4 plastic milcrates. The crooks literally too all four wheels (tires and steel rims!). I just got out of the service and that was how I was welcomed back to New York City, the "Big Apple"!

thanks for all your quick responses guys... i came back and took a look at her car and sure enough, they broke the clips that hold the mirror in place so the whole thing needs to be replaced went to the parts dept and they quoted me $198 for the part.. i can install it, it shouldnt be hard, right? im also gonna check out online stores for the part cheaper.. can u guys recommend me some sites to check out? and rico, i consider queens as nyc lol its not like im up in the boonies
Vandalism and insurance companies are two things that suck ass! Good luck. I'm actually filing a comprehensive claim with my insurance company now. I backed into a mailbox and fucked my spoiler up pretty bad. Seemed like it came out of nowhere. Now it's time to pay.
