Gen6 2007 Mud Flaps

I scored a new set of 2007 Camry mud flaps on ebay to help resolve the issue of minimizing the trash tossed up via the front drive wheels on the front quarter panels and rocker panels. Installing the front mud flaps were a non event but I am hesitant about installing the rears because I have to drill two holes per side then install tinnerman nuts to accept the supplied self tapping sheet metal screws. I cannot see drilling holes in two perfectly pristine rear quarter panels as it will eventually expose the rear quarters to rust formation. Has anyone determined a good tip or trick to avoid this srilling for the rears? Right now I'm debating not installing the rear flaps for this reason.

Yeah, I was a bit nervous about drilling holes into my brand $28,000 car... but eventually I just decided that it was time. It's actually quite easy... except that you have to take off the rear tires.

About rust forming.... like the guy said above, it's plastic, so no worries about rust.

You will be drilling 2 holes thru a thin layer of plastic, no need to worry about rust. Very quick and easy.
Hardest part is removing the heavy wheels.

Gen6 Plastic?...duh!

I love you guys...I had no idea the rear quarter panels were made of plastic. Anyway, thanks. Found out that even with a right angle drive drill it's still way too tight making it impossible to drill unless you physically remove the rear wheels.

I think oem mudguards require drilling. I always buy cars w/o them and put them on when I got cheaper on ebay :-)

yeuemhoai is correct but I waited to respond back to brian01togo's post. Obviously brian01togo did NOT purchased oem mud flaps as he would have known the genuine oem toyota rear mudflaps certainly require drilling of two holes for each of the rear flaps. BTW, I got my new sets of 4 flaps for $24 plus $6.00 shipping which was the best I could find on ebay.

You are not drilling iinto the rear quarter panel. You are drilling into the rear bumper cover.

$24 for a set of 4? Did you get black ones?

My painted ones were a bit more:

Standard black genuine toyota mud flaps. I couldn't see paying $77 for the painted color matched flaps. Still getting a good education from all the posts here. I literally had no idea the rear mounting area was non-metal...all I do know is as you drive all the wheels kick up a lot of road spray, trash, and whatnot eventually making the rocker panels prone to chipping. Not much more accessories to purchase...market is very limited in what you can get. I still want to get some autopmeter gauges but autometer does not make any a-piller pods. I was thinking about both a oil pressure and coolant temp gauges but have no where to mount the gauges. I could improvise mounting where the aux jack door is but would sacrifice losing the storeage area. Decisions, decisions, decisions!!!!

Have you considered a Scangauge II? I think it displays all the values you listed, but only 4 at a time on LCD display.
