Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Right now I am shopping around for a SE V6 with leather, spoiler, homelink mirror, floormats, cargo mat, and moonroof. The first quote I got was 26,158 b4 tt&l. I believe invoice is around 25,160. I am wanting to pay 24,000 b4 tt&l. Am I low balling? I am not sure b/c JSM1284, I quote:"I got my SE V6 with Moonroof, Heater Sport Leather/mirrors, Navigation, Floor Mats, spoiler. For $26,183.30 out the dealer door"
That is more than 2000??!! off of invoice! And I know some guys are going at least 500 below invoice. I guess I want to see more updated drive out prices from guys that recently made their purchases. So lets see your numbers!

You believe the invoice is 25160. Make sure, and then make an offer within a couple hundred of the invoice and see what happens. If you think you can get it for a grand less than invoice then yes, you are low balling and wasting everyone's time.

Dealers hate people like that, who makes unrealistic offers.
Don't walk in there, and tell em that you want the invoice price. A move like that will not get you anything. Instead, just see what they offer, and then start negotiating. Dealers will not give you the "ultimate deal price" until you are set that you want the car.
I highly doubt you could get that low, and as others have said, they might not take you seriously either. Because remember, your not their only customer.
MSRP for my car was $24,159. But I was able to negotiate to $22,971 with an extended warranty.

Hey geoff5093, you never said much about the warranty. Was it Toyota or a third party? Seems like you had said it was ten years, and Toyota doesn't sell one that long.

I bought my 2007 LE V6 a year ago for $21912 (dealer's invoice) and the sticker was $24463 b4 TT&L. We should have a sticky post of purchasing price to help those are planning to buy, anyway currently you get any 2007 Camry for $500 under dealer's invoice (edmunds' invoice + TDA fee ~$350).
I agree we should have a sticky on this subject. I am not bias! lol! But seriously, we should. I looked back on one of the deals I posted on TN about a making a deal on a 07 Tacoma. Anyways, invoice price (kbb) was 24,115.10. Purchase price was 23,000 b4 tt&l. So that was 1115.10 below invoice. Also JSM1284, the guy's price I quoted, is a mod on this forum. So after closer consideration, 1000 below invoice is possible. But you have to have your timing right, like at the end of the month. And yes, I guess I am a lowballer when it comes to buying cars.
Just b/c you can get a deal on one model doesn't mean the same deals are found on another. It is about supply/demand. Camry's apparently don't need to be discounted as much. Heck, when I bought mine in March of 2006, I got a steal at $600 over invoice. They had just hit the dealer's lots and hardly anyone would discount off of MSRP.

When he wanted an Xterra, my gf's dad went to the bank, withdrew 25 grand in cash, put it in a briefcase, went to the dealer, spoke to the sales guy, opened the case, and said "I want that one." Sold it to him then and there for 25k without a hitch.
Ive come to a dealer with a cashiers check before, but it didnt really help negotiations. They get money from the fianance companies, so theyll get their 25k + whatever fees they get from the finance company. if you bring 25k in and thats that, they just get the money, no extra finance charges.

That's correct.
Dealers want you to finance.
In fact sometimes they'll deal with a bank with the same Toyota rate(unless it's a incentive low rate) and get a half percent to one+ percent kickback.
The days of the great cash deal are gone.
Dealers make money on everything if they get the chance.
Yep, Thats what I said, And thats what I paid, My Sticker price was $30,272, Paid $26,183.30.
