Trunk opening problem.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am asking for a freind that owns a '07 Camry. I have tried searching to look for an answer to the problem, but didn't find anything to solve the problem. So please if anyone could help out or point me in the right direction that I would very much appreciated.

A freind of mine recently bought a new 07 Camry (not sure what trim sorry) and has a problem with her trunk. She can use her alarm/remote to open her trunk, but the latch inside the car will not open the trunk anymore. She said that the latch used to open the car's trunk but doesn't any more. I pulled the latch on the inside and nothing happened. Sorry for my ignorance as I don't not own a toyota, but could this be caused by someone, say a family member, locking the trunk with the master key? (if this is even possible like in my Honda) I haven't checked the manual but I will do that soon when I get the chance so see if it has anything about it.

Sorry for the long post, thanks for reading and helping out.

Do you mean the pull by the driver's seat or the one on the trunk lid?

If it's the one by the driver's seat:
See if the key hole on the trunk lid is in a horizontal position. If it is, turn it 90 deg CW so that it is vertical.

Otherwise, it sounds like you have a broken cable. Go get it fixed under warranty.

Sounds like someone locked the trunk. It will open with the remote regardless, but if the trunk is locked the inside latch will not work. This is usually used in conjunction with a valet key when you valet your car. This way - the valet can get into your car, but the key won't work in the trunk and if you lock the trunk itself, neither will the latch.

Tell your friend to enjoy her car! The Camry has lots of small features to make life easier

Yep, I mean the pull or latch by the driver's seat. Funny thing was that right after I posted this thread, I thought maybe you can lock the trunk lid from the outside and possibly someone did it for her.

Again thanks for the quick reponse and I will tell her to enjoy her Camry.
