5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I got my tint done on my Camry today in San Bruno, CA. The tint went okay but kinda disappointed that there were damage to the vehicle.
However, I found those people had poked 2 small pin size holes on the rear left plastic door sill where it meets the window. Can't really see too well if the plastic was really damaged.
I'm thinking you let it go. Almost anything you do to fill the holewill be more noticable than the hole. A small touch of paint would do the job if you could match the color and level of gloss. Likely more trouble than it's worth.

Just stop by an Auto-Trim shop and ask there advice and how much to repair, i would be curious what those two holes will look like in two years? From sun exposue to cracking in the cold, or even solvents getting behind it causing it to eventually bubble...

I think they were cutting the tint sheets and came in touch with it.
That's a bad shop, they should have trimmed the tint on the outside of the window to get it to size, not the interior. What's the name of the shop so others can avoid it?

Not only that, but don't most 'good' tint shops use computer laser-cut tint sheets for an exact fit?

Not neccesarily... Some "old school" tinters do it all by hand, and do a phenomenal job. The computer cutter just makes it easier, however any really good tinter can do it by hand and make the cuts just as perfect as the laser.

I'll agree with you there. I wish there were more of those shops still around. It's pretty amazing what some of the old school guys can do by hand. I can't even draw a 6" line straight, and these guys do absolutely perfect pin stripes the entire length of a car over complex surfaces.
As far as the pin holes go, maybe there is some sort of a compound that can be color matched to the trim and filled in. It might end up making it look worse or more noticeable though.

He also scratched the sides of the windows a little but it's too little to advertise about. But the hole is quite visible.
