Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Just wondering if anyone has fixed their drivers side B-pillar rattle? Couple months ago, I attempted to fix the "metallic" rattle noise, but apparently it has come back. Vehicle is a 2007 Camry V6 LE, purchased April 2006.
It sounds like it's coming from the top of the drivers door where the b-pillar meets the door. I have been unable to pinpoint the sound exactly, whethere it's coming from the door window frame or the frame of the car itself. The rattle disappers when applying pressure against the door, or when the window is rolled down about an inch or more.
The noise is driving me nuts, happens to be right next to my left ear. Please no "take it to the dealer" responses, they are absolutely NO help (can't hear it, it's normal, etc.)
Was wondering if someone has found the exact reason of the problem and the fix. Thanks for anyone's input.
in my 05 the seatbelt adjuster was rattling. i just took the plastic cover off and noticed that when you move the little "thing" that adjusts the belt up/down the noise would comeback.
i have similar rattle in my 05. dealer keeps on trying to fix.
i believe is the rubber gasket around the door. i feel there is too much gap between the rubber gasket on the door and the actual frame of the car, causing this ticking noise right on my left ear.
if the stealer can't fix it i think i'm just going to put some gasket material on top of the gasket of the door and see if the noise goes away.
in my case it has to be the rubber gasket, cuz when i drive w/the door open the noise goes away.
somehow i cant get this idea thru the stealer's head!
Well, after 16k miles driven with this "b-pillar metallic rattle" next to my left ear as above, I decided to do something about it. Just remember, dealers here are absolutely NO HELP in resolving issues; and this is in Southern CA, where I have visited 5 dealerships.
Anyway, the "fix" is that I realized that just pressing against the door will stop the rattle completely. I had to make the door "tighter" so stacked 2 pennies, and taped them (gorilla tape) to the frame, where the 2 rubber "pegs" on the door meet the frame (2 pennies per rubber peg.) Rattle noise is gone....ghetto, but it works...

LoL aha that reminds me of the free blackberry I got from work ( no data plan) mic didn't work unless u flexed the phone...
So I rolled up a rubberband and put it behind the board under the case and then stuck a penny in the battery compartment. pure ghetto.
In my 07 SE i think the rattle is coming fromt eh seatbelt adjuster thing, i just turn the music up lol

I have the same problem coming from either my driver side B pillar or back passenger side window. I dont want to take it back to that dealer cause when I filled out the survey about my buying experience from them, I rip them a new hole.
