Now that I got my rims and tires installed, there is a bigger gap between the wheel well and the tire then I was expecting, which make the rims look pretty small. I've been hearing about TRD lower springs and it seems like it may be something that I should have installed.
I found a set on eBay for $225 + $18 S/H, is that a good deal for all 4 springs? Are there any other springs that work just as well, for a lower price?
And roughly what should I expect it to cost to have them installed? Is it a really time consuming job?
Thanks for the link, on the TRD Parts 4U website, is says "Springs are progressively wound to produce good ride quality during normal driving and a firm ride with increased speed.
'07 SE CAMRY model is lowered approximately 29 mm front and 32 mm rear with these springs." Does that mean those are only for the SE models, or am I just reading it wrong?
And do you know about how long it would take to install all 4?
You can install the springs on any style camry. But I think people with hybrids dont like them cause their trunks are too heavy :-P It took a couple of hours to install springs on my brother's car. If you want to do it yourself, I think you can borrow the parts from autozone or something.
I probably wouldnt do it myself, so im wondering how long it would take a shop to do it. And I dont know if I should go to the Toyota dealership where they charge $85 an hour for labor, or go to a mechanic that we've known for a while where we bought our used cars, that charges $50 per hour.
Being that the car is brand new, I dont want to mess up anything or void any warranty by installing them on my own, so i'll probably just bring it to the Toyota dealership and have them install it. They can install TRD products with no problem right?

Springs are relatively simple to install with the right tools (Spring Compresser being the most important). The dealer should have no problem installing them.

Is it something that any mechanic/shop should be able to do? Because we have a friend that owns a local repair shop (where I bought my 94 Cam), that charges $50 per hour. Or do you need special tools to install it on an '07 Camry? It doesnt sound like it if you can do it yourself, but im just making sure.
I just bought them for $216 shipped, i'm going to call up Toyota and the local mechanic and see which one I should go with.
Any mechanic should be able to do this. As stated, the only "special" tool needed is a spring compresser. All this tool does is hold tension on the spring as you take out the shock so that then you remove the bolt holding the shock/spring assembly, it doesn't fly off and decapitate you. Be sure to post before/after pics when you do this mod!

I'll probably bring it to the local mechanic then, since they charge $35 less per hour then Toyota (no surprise). I will also get a 4 wheel allignment after a few hundred miles or so, since I herad you should get one once the springs set in.
And of course i'll post before and after pics! And by then I should have my windows tinted as well
