5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I went to test drive the V6 SE with the black leather interior. To me the leather looked kinda cheap; as in the fit and finish. It was especially noticable in the rear seats where there were big chunks of leather that bulged out. It was equipped the the liquidcell leather seats. I was wondering if you guys with leather could post some pics of the seats (especially in the rear). Want to make sure that the poor fit was only on the car I test drove. Also are the door trim (by the handle) are still cloth? or is the suppose to be leather? Some tells me the leather was port or dealer install and was a sucky job.
On a side note, I like the guages on the LE and XLE better than the Optitron sport guages on the SE.
My leather interior SE has leather on the door panels, or should i stay not REAL leather ....

There is a dealer-installed option for the leather seats.
If equipped from the factory with leather, there should be some fake leather on the doors, and you should not see cloth ANYWHERE.
If you do, then the seats were "leatherized" at the dealer as an accessory which doesn't include door trim.
I don't have a pic of my rear seats, but my leather fits perfectly over each seat. The stitching isn't as 100% perfect on our Benz ML500, but for a Toyota I'm very happy.

My only gripe about the dark charcoal (black) leather is the fact that the pillars and headliner are a completely different color (gray/tanish). Kinda bugs me but I like the dark charcoal over the ash so I will live with it.

I am also in Texas and did some questioning about the fabric doors. Gulf States Toyota does the leather, not the factory. I have an LE, and Toyota tells me that they don't put leather in ANY LE, so any leather is from the distributor. Would kinda like to know where I could get just the leather for door panels. A local shop could do the job but I have also heard of poor quality jobs. The door cloth though is pretty lame anyway and gets dirty easily.

honestly i would have to find that out , do you know where i can look to find that out?
Take a close look at your seats. If they are perforated then there should be 1000's of tiny pin holes about every 1/4".
Although it is not in the description, I believe that all Camry SE factory leather seats are perforated as a part of the "Sport Leather Package - includes heated front seats, leather-trimmed seats and door trim with integrated armrests and dual front and rear map pockets, and dual color-keyed, heated power outside mirrors."\
Perforated leather is considered more 'sporty' and so it is only available on the SE, atleast here in Ohio.

Liquidcell leather is installed at port. Mine is nice looking and they did the door panels also.
My only gripe is the spots on the drivers bolster that the leather is almost flaking off of(VERY small spots, but still) I am in talks with Toyota to have it repairede now.
I would almost go with cloth(especially the SE cloth) at this point.

this is what i have as my sport leather package...i know its hard to notice them in those previous pics
So I guess it just depends on a particular camry. Not all camry's are created equal. I'll be happy with the leather work like on gensixer's. Even if it isn't perforated nor liquidcell.
Gensixer to find out about the liquidcell, just look for liquidcell tags around the stitching/seams.
