quick questions about trd springs before installation...

hey guys I'm back with more questions just ran around a bunch of shops best price I got to do the springs was $200 and I don't rly wanna spend it right now cause I'm almost damn near broke, plus don't think it's that hard might give it a shot myself, at least front two they seems easier for me atm...since I havnt really looked at the back yet lol

Anyways...will I need clamps to put the trd springs on or are they short enough to just put in and put everything back together? (and springs any examples? not sure what I'm looking for yet)

now really stupid question about the springs...which ones go where and how i have the long narrow ones i'm guessing those go in the front, they get wider at one end ... that end goes on the bottom I'm guessing?
and the read ones are the ones that get wider and pull it again? also which end where...
I know this is rly basic but I want to try myself and havn't really seen anyone do it before

any other things I should watch out for ? as I see it now...jack the corner up, take the wheel off, take off the bolts under the hood, remove some bolts that are connecting the area near the rotor with the rest of the body (atm dunno where yet), then pop the spring out, put new ones in and redo the whole thing
let me know if I missed something big or anything I should watch out for..

again I know this is very basic but I have to get started somewhere

oy... if you're asking the questions you're asking, you probably shouldn't do it yourself. Or at least have someone experienced help you.

You should probably get a spring compressor before removing the bolts on the strut mount.

THe spring compressor will (as the name describes) compress the spring for you while you remove the bolts. this will help alot when taking off and removing the shocks/springs.

You can rent the spring compressor from your local Autozone.

Agreed.

And you don't have to compress them to take them out of the car. You need the compressor to take the strut and spring apart/put the strut and spring together.

Once you get into it you will see which spring goes where.

It's actually pretty easy.

Go over it in the manual and then have at it.

my friend did it himself in a couple hours first time also without any help and without the compressor, and I'm pretty sure u can remove the spring without it n let it shoot out into something relatively stable but a lil soft so it doesnt shoot back haha, i'm wondering if u need the compressor to put trd ones or if they're short enough that you don't

plus i had these kinds of questions with everything I did so far not many problems up till now plus I get to work on my car myself heh

btw R07M i see ur in MA, know anyone who can do it cheap? best quote I got is 50 per corner or 60/hour, couple more people supposed to call me back with quotes but I dont thin kit'll go much bellow that, if I can find someone to do it for like 100 or a lil above I can otherwise I can buy al lthe tools and then some for that much and do it myself heh vacation is good for something

You could easily kill or injure yourself jacking the car up.

The best way to learn is to do it. That's why I recommended he check a service manual.
