Personally, I will change the plugs at 100,000 miles (sooner if the Iridium falls off), the coolant after 3 years, and the transmission any time it starts to discolor.

I've seen alot of vehicles that just do city driving with burned fluid. Yep, even the newest/lasted and greatest fluid.

Maintenance is too cheap to take a chance in my opinion.

Plugs should last at least 100K. Would change the trans fluid much sooner as cheap insurance against damage. Coolant life is also a function of years in service.

Um......okay...?

If you don't believe it then change it. Most Toyota drivers drive "conservatively" and things tend to last longer. Plugs I would change every 100,000 miles, coolant I would change every 3 years and tranny fluid (if auto never, if manual 60,000 miles). Then there are other variables like the driver's driving style as well as climate and duration. I didn't know you were a Toyota mechanic or the engine designer and know what needs to be suggested for replacement....technology today goes a long way.

Word. If the car is a lease or you know you are getting rid of it in a year, might as well maintain it how they say.
For my own cars, that i intend to drive til the wheels fall off or i hit the lotto- plugs 50 or 60,000. Anti freeze changed at least every two years. ATF changed every 25 - 30,000. By the way the ATF on mine is toyota TIV, only, and is a dealer-only item. It costs like $5 a quart (OW) but i change it anyway.
