5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Well, the only thing left is the floor I have put a lot of dynamat in my Camry and it is pretty solid. If you think the car was quiet before .... amazingly quiet
I need to do that to my Camry also since things are getting progressively louder with the mods I'm doing. Everything looks great. If you don't mind me asking, how much does the install cost?

Well, the install would probably be like 3 or 4 hours at the shop rate. I get taken pretty good care of from the guys at Circuit City in Roseville. My car is kinda like a project that they have been working on since the day I got it. I figure for a regular customer It would have been about $160 or so for the labor.
I see you splurged and went for the higher end Xtreme version. I have some minimally installed in my car as well an noticed an immediate difference in sound quality. Great stuff for the money indeed!

Look at raamat. Thats some good shit...plus they have tutorials as well. There is also liquid deadener..but it can get pretty messy. Things can get pretty heavy once you put sound deadener on...

You could save your money if you have the right tools and install it yourself. My old 93 accord has about 20 lbs of dynamat spread out the trunk, two front doors, etc for my 3 old school 12w3's from jl audio. Heat gun, roller, blade, cleaning liquids (before application of dynamat) and you're good to go.
^It's very expensive. You are better off with RAAMmat. The guy who handles the RAAMmat is having issues with a defective batch right now so if you wait a little while he will have it ready. He was actually selling off the remaining defective batch at a big discount 62.5 feet for $69 and I got my hands on some. It was tested to work properly but the defect is the fact that it is so damn sticky.
There is a website where another guy has compared all the major sound deadener by putting them through different tests. Second skin's damplifier ended up being the best sound deadener but RAAMmat was considered the best bang for your buck.
Dynamat was not recommended because it's not that good. Dynamat Extreme was not recommended because it is just too expensive for what you are actually getting.

pranksta any idea what that site is? I was looking to do this to my cam too but the prices shocked me off of it a bit especially since I spent a load on other stuff recently, that student budget isn't getting me too far right now heh

I got a screaming deal on my Dynamat Extreme ... good things to have friends in the business and low places Whatever brand you decide to use, it makes a huge difference. Well worth the time and money.
The next mod is the touch screen on the inside of the trunk lid with some seperates to the sides and a carputer .... lots of fun modding this Camry. I am 38 and feel like I am 20 .... this is a blast

That is great. Everyone cannot get a deal on that stuff. That is for sure. Did you add any sound absorber to go with the Dynamat?
whiteboy, the site for the deadener is www.raamaudio.com. I would contact the head guy - Rick and ask him if he has fixed the issues with the RAAMmat yet. Rick seems to be a very nice guy from my experience with him. Mention cam2Xrunner (the mod that usually hangs out in the audio/video area) and toyotanation and he might give you a discount even if the roll is not defective. Rick has been to these forums a couple of times and he's a Toyota enthusiast too. I think the regular price for a roll is $119 for 62.5 feet or something like that. Either way, much cheaper than Dynamat. Let us know how it goes.

Personally, I use products from Second Skin Audio. The owner Actually answeres the phone, and posts on the website forum. And the products are Top Notch.
^Yeah. Like I said before, Second Skin is considered the best. RAAMmat gets you great quality at a discount though.

you could also try looking at what kind of deadeners and pricing that http://www.partsexpress.com/ has. it's an excellent website for DIY sound system setups for home and car audio.
