5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I just bought a new pair of Pioneer 6x9 speakers for the rear. I folded the seats down and I got half of the plastic panel clips out, but I'm not surehow to get the rest out, since I dont want to break or bend the plastic.
I dont have a Haynes manual or anything, so I was wondering if anyone knew any tips on how to remove it easily.
hm thats for the gen5..anyways since on topic i was wondering about hte SE's? seats dont fold down = problem?
I didnt have to fold the seats down, I just did it so I could access the plastic panel easier.
I dont know why they made it so hard for the Gen6, on the Gen3 all you had to do was remove the grill with a screwdriver and you had access to the speakers, now you need to remove the entire back piece.
I found some holes on the underside, inside the trunk, which looks like I could use to help push it up. But again, i'm not sure if thats the right way so I dont want to break anything.
when my time comes, im just going to tear those stock grills off and install 6x9's what screw from the top.
im not going to go thru all the back seat removal stuff.
you won't be able to do that since you have to take out the old speakers for one, and the grills are much bigger than 6x9 and it will just look messy in general lol sry to ruin it for you =/ this isn't hard on a gen 5.5 though takes maybe 15-20mins when you know what you're doing to do it nicely
Well I got everything off, it was pretty easy, once I got the side panels off the rear came off easily.
And just to let everyone know, 6x9's will fit, but they DO NOT screw in, since Toyota has to make everything difficult, so you can see on the stock speakers that it has it's own harness. What I did was install the 6x9's, and I just used Goop. If anyone doesnt know what Goop is, it's probably one of the strongest glues around, it sticks to pretty much everything and is practically impossible to get off.
