5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Between the issues many are having with the '07 Camry and now the Tundra failing 5.7 engines,Toyota is dropping the ball.
Seem Toyota is rushing to be #1 and quality is suffering.
"The flaw was due to a manufacturing defect by a subcontractor"
How exactly has Toyota dropped the ball?
Don't get me wrong... my Camry has been to the dealer 8 times in less than 5 months and I do think there are quality issues. But I think partly what we're seeing here is more scrutiny and media attention of problems because Toyota is now #1. Every auto manufacturer has it's issues. If I start to hear from just about everyone I know with a Toyota that they're having problems (like what I hear from Mercedes and BMW owners) then I'll start to worry.

Just my .02
I feel Toyota has 'dropped the ball'.
Quality has gone down in models that have been made in the US.
My '07 doesn't have any reall issues but the quality is short of previous Toyota's I've owned.
I still would buy a Toyota product over any US badge but will only buy imported models like my RAV4 which is solid as a rock.

It's true most problems do not happen to everybody, we just tend to see all the problems here because most people with problems will tend to search out a solution.
Top companies to tend to get put under the microscope more than the rest.
I believe it was the same with Xbox360s, out of so many built there were the select bunches with problems, it's a piece of technology shit happens, look at the PSP when they first came out EVERY single one of them had at least one dead pixel.
the cents are gonna start adding up :P

Cars today will have more problems than their predecessors. There is a lot more technology that can go wrong and cars are being produced faster and with cheaper parts.

I would have to agree. I have owned a 2007 Tacoma and it had the vibration at 20 mph. The dealer took it back with out an hassle. So then I get a 2007 Camry SE V6... More issues. Leaking trans. 3 times and it is in again. It has the shift flare and shifts hard. I guess I should have gone with Honda again or maybe went with the Hybrid. Now my 2007 Rav4 has had 0 issues and this is the 2nd one I have owned. I had a 2006 and it trouble free just like the 2007, but long story short I didn't need 2 SUV's so I got the Tacoma and now the Camry. Boy I guess I should have stuck with the Rav.
