5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Had a appointment this morning at 9am to get a tire pressure light part put in.They had the part but since our service advisor didn't come in nobody else would help. They they were going by first come first served. So whats the use of making a appointment. This is our 3rd attempt to fix this problem on our 07 Camry with only 3500 miles on it.Just to get a oil change is a hassle.Besiede all that they are nasty and rude.We left cause it would have taken about 5 hours.
We also own a Crown Victoria. We never go threw the hassle like we do at Toyota. At Ford they are pleasant and can't do enough. If your regular service advisor isn't there another takes over with no hassle. We also own a Honda and even Honda has better service.
Needless to say we will never buy another Toyota again.Due to the horrible service we are thinking of trading it in in on something else.THEY ARE THE WORST OF THE WORST!
I have never seen such arrogance to customers.Toyota couldn't care less to the people who buy their cars.
Don't say switch dealers because we did that already and its the same all over.At least here in the South Florida area.
I will continue to purchase Toyotas, but their dealership network is absolutely horrific.
First of all, when I was buying my Camry, I signed the papers because the salesman and his manager told me how they found a car in the city which matches my specs, and I'll have it in a few days.
Then they later told me they actually can't sell me that one because "Toyota isn't releasing it". Bull.
Then they told me how their dealer actually had a Camry coming off the line which would arrive in 2 weeks. I raised hell.
I came in with a friend of mine who's a lawyer just to scare the idiots. She said something like nondisclosure of information, bla bla bla. The head manager got scared because he personally phoned me the next day stating that I am welcome to come take delivery in 3 days. And that I did.
Also their service is terrible. It's full of red-neck fools who can't even speak English very well. I make an appointment like weeks before, and then I come only to be told that someone else came in earlier and that my car will therefore NOT be ready by the end of the day. So I raise hell every time about that.
The other trick they love is to tell me how a part has to be ordered. The funny thing is that I ask which part. And then I phone another dealer in Toronto. Surprise, they have the part. But my dealer of course instead waits 2 weeks to get it from some imaginary warehouse of theirs. I just don't have the time or will to expose all of their obvious mistakes. Else they'd get some bad publicity.

The same here in the 5 dealers that I visit in my area, they don't have the knowledge to work in this cars(With a simple google search I can adquire more info that the technitian knows). I think they are too busy and they know that they have plenty customers that will go to the dealer no matter what.. I called corporation 3 times to tell them about the dealers. Never got a call back, don't even from the dealer, But I remember they use to call me everyday to buy the car.....
...

Contact Toyota Motors USA and JM Family. Especially JM Family since it is in their backyard.

When i went to buy mine (used) I had put a deposit down for them to hold it..no formal contract they said they'd hold it for 5 days while i figured out my financing...so July 1st our taxes went down 1%..so i went in saying i'll take the car..can i get the 1% off aswell seeing it's July 1st. They said no i signed a contract June 25th (around then)..we said it wasn't a formal contract just a deposit to hold the car for a few days while i figured my finances..still they said no....so we made a deal and i got 4 free oil changes and 2 year powertrain/roadsides assist...in a way it worked out better because i saved more.
I'm sorry to hear about these horror stories.
Not all Toyota dealers are like that.
I deal with Butler Toyota in Indianapolis, Indiana, and their service has been polite and reasonable.

1. Call Toyota headquarters to complain. If not satisfied, go to step 2.
2. Go to another dealership. If not satisfied, go to step 3 or repeat step 2.
3. Get a Lexus. If not satisfied, you are probably a difficult person.

Some people just don't get the idea of customer service. I think a lot of businesses have this problem right now. As people start tightening their belts and being more careful of where they spend their money, this will change. Retailers have been on a high lately and have the attitude that customer service don't matter. Now that the housing market is in the crapper and gas is $3.50 a gallon, people are gonna start being more picky when it comes to spending their money. I would call and complain and demand they do something to take care of this .... and make you happy.
One question - Oil change at 3500 miles? Aren't you a little early?
Call someone and complain ...

I completely concur with this thread, how Toyota Service centers at the dealerships are absolutely the worst - or falling at least.
I reside in Southern CA, so there are plenty of Toyota dealerships within a 30 mile radius. Unfriendly service "representatives" behind the counters, lying service reps on many occassions, and just flat out not helpful most of the time. When I ask 9/10 of the reps questions in regards to service or parts, the tone in their voice exhibits extreme inpatience and negative attitudes.
HOWEVER, it definitely depends on who you get. I have had some very helpful and friendly service reps, but within the past 4-5 years, they are becoming a rarity. But then again, I've noticed that "customer service" within the U.S., whether at restaurants, movie theaters, support line for cable/sat/telephone, etc, are definitely becoming more unfriendly..... but I digress....
i live in queens, ny and my service dept actually treated me VERY well.. my fog light switch needed to be replaced under warranty and the guy i was dealing with updated me with every step they were doing. they didnt have the part in house but by the next day he called me up said he has the part in and asked if i wanted to come in at that moment to get it replaced. after i got it replaced a few days later he called to make sure everything was working ok.
Hmm... I've never had a problem at my Toyota dealer. They used to even service my Nissan Altima before I had my Camry. We have had the same service advisor for 10+ years and have bought 5 vehicles from this same dealer. Always excellent service, timely, never rude, always giving free stuff or discounts when we bring our cars in. They are one of the top Toyota dealerships in the nation though.
No, its not that Toyota has the worst service, its just the people. Have you talked to the manager? Are there any other dealers in your area?
The manager was useless like eveyone else at Toyota. His only reponse was we have a small crew on Sunday and we can't help you.He said speak to your regular advisor on Monday. They said the appointment dosen't mean anything.I really don't understand their way of thinking.
It s nice to see they work as a TEAM at TOYOTA.If i worked that way on my job and treated people the way Toyota treats people i would be fired.
TOYOTA SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF ITSELF.But they have no shame as there are a tons of tons of Toyotas out there so there will always be customers to fill the spot.
BTW We Love the car but service is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad not sure if we are going to keep it.Tired of getting into fights with these idiots every single time it needs something.
All the dealers here are the same. This is our third dealer we tried. Each one is just as worse then the other. The last dealer we went to was supposed to change the oil at 3k miles. It was over six months in jungle heat and nightmare traffic and it was getting dirty. Turns out after i checked the oil found out it was never changed. The service manager said he couildn't verify that for sure. Then he said we can't help you anymore on that matter. Now if the service manager had a half a brain he should have said since your not happy with the service come in and we will change it again for you.But that will never ever happen at Toyota because of the piss poor i don't care attitude.
I had my wife bring my Ford in last week for service. She said she was treated like she was QUEEN for a day.At Toyata you are treated like a piece of garbarge or less.Honda is better but not by much.At least they give you respect and try to help unlike the idiots at Toyota.
Personally, I've never had a month of bad CSI but I can tell you this; The worst customers that I ever had were all ones that got on some internet forum. I see it here in ToyotaNation all the time. One person has a problem, then people run out to their car to see if theirs does it. It's crazy.
If you can't deal with people, posting it here isn't going to help. I know it's easier to complain while you're safely behind your monitor, but come on.
Toyota is very serious about customer service. It doesn't always work out. Not to mention nearly everyone goes to the dealer with an attitude like the dealer owes them something.
I can't tell you how stupid Toyota customers can be. You'll have a fit if the dealer makes any profit on the car - but flip out if they don't kiss your ass when you come back. Ugh. I could go on for days...
If you can't deal with people, posting here will make you look stronger to other weak people that share your sentiment.
