5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I scheduled to have both tint and a urethane paint protection film installed professionally at a local tint shop. The film is custom cut for the car and included pieces for the front bumper, hood, and backs of the mirrors. At the shop I went to there was a kiosk display sample of two hoods one with the film and one without; I believe it was to show the clarity of the film.
The shop asked to have the car first thing in the morning and asked that I let them keep it in a bay overnight so everything has a chance to cure undisturbed.
The price for the protection film and installation (not the tint) was just north of $400. I made the appointment the day after I drove the car off the lot.
I wish I could report back about it but I had to reschedule and then cancel the appointment since the Toyota service department has completely disassembled my car's interior and can't seem to find the time to put reassemble it. But that is for another thread...
Evan215, I am curious about your answer. Care to share?

Here is the answer I gave Gf07Camry...
"The clear bra I got done was at the dealer, it covers ALL the painted areas on the front of the car, the hood up to 18", and I also got the insides of the door handles done... I paid $450. They didn't do the best job but you can't tell unless it is close up. In a couple years I will be getting it redone by the guy that did my tint, he does an excellent job."
I've seen them on eBay selling pretty cheap, you might want to check there.
I got the one from ebay for mine last year, the concept and the idea I love it, let's just say doing it yourself with a hairdryer when you have no clue isn't the best idea, haha took a lot of paitience and it didn't come out as well as I would have wanted it to, I'm considering redoing it in the next couple of weeks but the bumper is a pain in the but alone, but it's very useful, I havn't done the hood piece yet since i ran out of time before the colds hit last year and there's definately a huge difference in appearance over 15k miles I have done
I wasn't sure whether the price I got was that great, but the rep assured me that I was getting my money's worth. With the new styling of the 2007 Camry she described it as "trying to wrap an egg with cellophane".
Her anecdote on durability went like this: a sports car with the urethane paint protection film was stolen and during the police pursuit the car was driven through a barbed wire fence. The front of the car came away unscathed.
After doing a lot of research and some local recommendations from a friends bodyshop,I'm going with the VentureShield brand.
3M is yellow resistand and VentureShield is yellow proof with a lifetime warranty on issues.
On white, yellowing is an important issue.
I have an insrall appt on Saturday.
They did a USA tour some time back...so I would contact them to see if they are doing it again.
I went to them to get my tint done, and they did an excellent job with that as well.
They started in the tint business when they first opened some 9-10 years ago, but moved mainly to clear-bra as their specialty.
I looked up close to one of their cars that they did had just done a custom clear-bra install to...and I DID NOT see any lines.... They basically wrap behind the bumper/fender/etc.... so you cannot see any lines. No bubbles...no anything.. VERY clean and professional appearance
And they do A LOT of exotics and high end luxury cars. The one I inspected was a brand new BMW M5... The only lines that you are going to see is where they have to wrap a corner... They cut a tiny little piece to wrap around the corner . I assume that they do this so that you do not see and bunching of the clear bra...
Trust me...do not go to a cheap place to do the clear bra or try to do it yourself from an ebay kit.
Take it to a professional place with a good reputation...and pay the extra money to get it done right.
Take a look at their gallery. Their work and craftsmanship REALLY show in person.
