well alrite! i bought myself an early bday gift. i got some 18's from the local shop for just under $870. sorry for the low-quality pic, took it with my RAZR phone, but i figured peeps wuld be saying "u got photos?". i will take better pics with my digicam tomorow and post those.
well, the tires i got are 225/40-18. i want to know the correct psi for these? the guy at the shop said 'around 38-42 psi. i don't like ranges. can someone give me an exact number if possible?

thnx, y'all!
Congrat on your 18' wheels. For the psi, go to the main forum then scroll down to the wheels and tires section. You can send a general message or pm kyle@tirerack (that's his member's name) give him the info and he will give you an answer from the expert point of veiw. He has helped me out quite a few times before. Good luck!

Back on stock height and love it!
Run the highest pressure you can and still be comfortable without exceeding the maximum pressure stated on the tire itself. I usually run 38 PSI. The higher pressure will help with fuel mileage and tire tread life.
If you don't like the pressures being higher set it where you like. I would not recommend running less than 30 PSI.
congrads on the rims!
I run 35 on the front and 33 in the back, basically the way I do it, I forgot who taught me this awhile ago but basically stick a finger between the tire and the asphalt and inflate it until you can stick the finger in there and reach the side of the tread basically so you know it's fully on the ground, I'm guessing it's not optimal but it works pretty damn well
critique me if there's something wrong with that theory I'd like to hear
run them at 35 psi, i guarantee this is optimal pressure for even wear of your tread (i used to work in a tire shop back when i was in high school)
Wow, that's a pretty broad statement to make without any other knowledge. How do you know his driving habits, area road conditions, tire construction, additional weight, etc. to bring you to that "guaranteed" conclusion?

That doesn't make any sense at all. I can't see that being at all credible even if it was possible to find a PERFECTLY flat AND level surface AND equalize the weight on ALL of the tires.
I usually run around 32-35. just run near those numbers and check for tire wear and adjust accordingly. or you can get some sidewalk chalk...and spread some chalk perpindiuclar to the tread. drive around..spirited driving mind you. then get out and check the tire wear and adjust accordingly

my driving habits...lets jus say i drive like a soccer mom, ha! i try 2 use cruise control as much as possible, n i dont do hard accelerations from stopped. jus tryin to save gas, cuz its like $3.30/gal in LA.
but i do take corners and curves a little faster than before. the wider tires allow me to grip the road better, so i dont hav 2 slow down when entering a freeway onramp on a curved incline. im digging that part.
maybe next step is to lower the stance a little. waiting 4 my next paycheck...
