5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I remember seeing those on ebay. I cant say for sure how their light output is even for regular halogens, but i've seen some riced up early 90's civics with eBay projectors and the light output doesnt look spread at all, it's really concentrated . I dont know if those would be different or not, but they would certainly look cool from others view.
From what I recall from another thread, the light output on those is terrible. I think they use like an H1 bulb or something. I have heard nothing good about them.

A guy (LE05) bought the headlights before to use for a retrofit and he had a hard time with em. He said they were made out of really cheap material and did not fit properly if I recall correctly. There was another guy who had those lights too and he used zip ties to make sure the headlights were "secured" at the top because it did not allow him to use the mounting screws. The regular light output sucks so it's best if you are buying them for some type of project. Beware of the fitment and quality issues. At the end of the day, it's your money so do what makes you happy.

^you bet i could! haha, it seems like my work is done... i've spread the word about these headlights wide and far and here's some more words... those headlights were basically $280 bezels for my OEM SE headlights HID retrofit... i junked the rest of it.

I don't think anyone on here is too worried about you getting the same projectors that they have. The fact of the matter is that since it is custom work, no two pair of retrofitted headlights are the same. Mike and I have the same setup but my reflector is not painted black and my bezels are closer to my projectors. In fact, my bezels are closer to my projectors than any other members. Since my reflector is still chrome, mine is closer to looking OEM. Ha ha Mike. lol.
Also, there has to be less than 0.1% of the Gen 5 Camrys on the road that are retrofitted with HID. We are definitely part of an elite club.

^WERD...a very low percentage of people have retros in their camry's. YEa my setup is more like thapranksta's setup. MY shroud and projector are flush with the bezel...But my headlight is blacked out where as his is chromed. THen mikes is like blacked out...but i have the rings. And majorgecko is like a navy blue with angel eyes and brows. We're all basically different...with differen shrouds and setups...
Yeah.. what they said. I wouldn't care if you got TSX's. thapranksta has TSX's, LE05 has been working on a new retro with TSX's forever now. It doesn't matter. Like they said, there are so few of us being retro'd, it really is an elite club. And it doesn't make a difference to us. The only other retro'd Camry's that I've seen were majorgercko1 and Webb26, and thats 'cause they live near me, and we've met up.
And mine is blacked out using a special paint that is used on Boeing jet parts.. hehe. And yes, since mine are blacked out, they don't look like they are from factory and they stand out. But in all honesty, when I got pulled over a year ago for rolling a stop sign, and the cop walked around the car, stopped for a second as he glanced at the headlights... he just came back around and didn't say a word. So it looks OEM-enough.
I'd offer to do a retrofit, but I'm under heavy workloads and time constraints as it is. I just wouldn't have the time.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

and you've been working on your secret project for forever too! i'm in no rush, my e46's work just fine... but of course TSX's are worlds apart in comparison! i just realized, i've never posted pictures of my retro... gotta find some time this weekend and post some up.
as for your retrofit Ace, i would take the time and do it yourself. its far more rewarding and a good learning experience to customize and build your own retro. if you're not good with tools, its a good time to learn

^ Yeah, I know, I know... but man... its friggin' tough to get around to just picking it up and getting started. I'm taking huge class-loads at school so that I can get my bachelor's next Spring, and I'm training more than ever for XC/track, and then there's work too... and friggin'... yeah, no time. They're still sitting here in the same phase that they were in back in like January or whatnot... haha.
