TRD Springs... Should I?

I was all set to have my springs installed the day they came in the mail, but since then i've heard people complaining about them. And I've also heard from a few people that it will cause the struts to blow really quickly. That, and the prices i've gotten so far were $300-$500 in labor. What I dont want to happen is pay $300 to get them installed, and then have issues and pay another $300 to remove them.

I would like the increased handling and the look of it, but i've just been thinking about the practicality of it. One of the things I noticed was that right now, when I park next to a curb, I only have about 1" of clearance, so that pretty much means I cant open the door when I parallel park.

I'm not necessarily looking for people to tell me if I should do it or not, since everyone has their own opinions. I would just like a little feedback from people who've had them installed, or people who are knowledgable.

I absolutely love my TRD springs. IMO the drop is just right not too low, but still noticeable. The ride is slightly bumpier, but by no means is it a bad ride. You do have to be careful around crubs and parking blocks. I would definately get them installed, but pay no more than $200.

Then you should know a lot of things factor into the lifespan of the struts...

Install them yourself and you get free labor.

Or have it installed by Toyota so they can warranty it.

I don't have them installed and I'm not an expert on this but I will give you the reason why I don't drop and you should.
My tires 245-35-20 are bigger in overall diameter than stock tires.
Your tires 225-40-18 are smaller in overall diameter than stock tires.
That's why right now (before dropped) you have bigger gap than my car between the tires and the wheel gap which will give you more room to prevent a rubbing.
imo, Go for it.

Yes do it! I did have mine installed at the dealer, and probably paid a lil more because of it. But I wanted my warranty to remain without any issues. Even for the struts.

I'm not considering installing springs once I get my 18" wheels. I had TRD springs on a 2001 Celica and the ride was rough. I had to be careful when dealing with speeding bumps and curves. If you're really concerned about looks, then go ahead and do it.

I sense a useless post^

Have you ever owned a car that was lowered? I mean are you used to avoiding steep inclines, driveways, parking blocks, curbs? Things like that. It does take some getting used to.

.....seriously wtf is wrong with people not reading.....?

JoeS, read my initial posting and tell me that I am wrong and than read geoff5093's post word for word. Not just the title but the whole post (which I'm sure you did)... and then read the other responses. Your responses as well as mine contributed to the questions, all the others are useless (or should I say not irrelevant, no offense to anyone, not trying to start no beef). geoff5093 have stated that he was not asking for any opinions of whether or not to install them since he knows everyone has different opinions. Put yourself in geoff5093's shoe and tell me if this post really helps.

I don't understand it, I'm a member of many other forums and seem to be alright there. Only on TN do people misinterpret, misread and miscomprehend my posts. Very aggrevating. Maybe I'll just stop offering technical advice and just start postings x2, x3, lol, looks good etc.

I'm done, I wonder how many other posts below mine would offer irrevelvant info.

Were you running aftermarket shocks also? If I remember correctly, TRD springs for the 7gen Celica was around 1" all around.
