5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I got my 2007 tinted last week and they cut out the 3rd brake light section of the back window. They claim it's NJ state law ... Needless to say with a grey interior on a black car it looks really stupid!
I'm looking for any ideas about how to make the best of the issue. Possibly remove the rear deck and carefully paint the inside of the 3rd brake light so from outside you wouldn't see any grey? Or take a small piece of plexiglass and tint that, and then wedge it in between the light and the window in hopes that it looks like a continuous flow of tint from the outside (then just slide it out for inspection)?
Any ideas would be appreciated, it bothers me to no end having a black car with dark tint, and a stupid grey third brake light sticking out in the back ...
Your other problem is double posting..................
Your problem is being an ASSHOLE to everyone on this forum!

I would never have gotten tints from that place then ... if you're paying them to do a job .... they should do it how you want it done .... if they won't .... then go elsewhere.
I just tinted all 5 windows a few weeks ago, and I live in NJ. It is illegal to tint the front driver and passenger window in NJ, but I did it anyway. Thats like your place saying I can't tint the front windows because it's NJ State Law!
I have a magnetic gray as well, and I don't think the cutout looks bad at all ... but my tints are only 35% ... don't know what you got .... but personally, I think if they don't cut it out, the third brake light looks shitty from behind .... but I guess there's nothing you can do now!

Not to jack the thread, but how much did you pay for the 35% tints? Do you feel that 35% is dark enough? Also, do you have any pics? Thanks!
