5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So i purchased 22 inch Dub Cream II rims with Hankook tires size 245-30-22. The front ones fit no problem, the back ones I am having a problem with.
How can I make the back ones fit? It seems in order for me to have clearence I need the plate where the springs lay on the bottom removed or moved. The perch at the bottom plate is hitting the tire so that it wont allow me to clear the tire so that it can fit all the way into the 5 lugs. What are my options???
I was looking to replace the and get an aftermarket coil kit replacement where the bottom plate is smaller then the OEM plate and that would able me to have enough clearence, but I cant find any aftermarket coil kit replacements. I can try to heat up the bottom plate where the springs lay and use a jack hammer to hit it upwards about a quater inch so I can gain clearence with the perch and put the tire on.
Or I thought I read somewhere here a 1 inch spacer might work? But is that really enough room so the tire and the bottom plate do not touch? I would like to make sure before I purchase. Maybe something like this would work:
even though its barely an inch long its the most width I can find for a spacer. Does anyone know how everyone else put 22 inch rims with 245/30/22 tires on there 07 camry? Please let me know as I am trying very hard to put it on. Thanks again for all the help guys.

Sorrry I meant 245/30/22 and yes i know about the spedometer
You might want to go to cardomain.com and there are a few guys with 22' maybe you can send them messages to find out how they put 22' on their car. If I remember correctly there was even a few with Gen5 too! Good luck!
