Gen6 07 Air Conditioning

Have noticed, now that it is beginning to warm up, the a/c takes awhile to really cool down. Just wondering if folks in the southern states have noticed this, i.e., is it normal, or do I need to mention this to the dealer? I have film on the windows so I thought that should help, but I need to be going for awhile before it gets serious about heat transfer.

Mine cools down pretty quickly. I haven't noticed it taking a long time. I'm in GA.

Sorry about the blank post. I noticed yesterday that it took my car a while to cool down. Down here it gets really hot and humid and you need your a/c to cool quickly. Of course, you know there is nothing they can do about it.

It seems it is always the people who don't use the A/C often have the most trouble. When we had our 94 Camry the A/C was on for 14 years all year long.We just adjusted the temp setting in the cooler months. We never had the A/C serviced one time in 14 years and 200k miles. It was still ice cold when we sold it.

When you use it you lube it.So just KEEP IT ON.

That is just IMHP.

You're in Wasington. We should be asking you about windshield wipers! You don't know hot. This is Texas, one short drive from Arizona. It's just now getting warm enough to be noticable. 93 with 70 percent humidity means it is spring.

+1
I turn my AC on once a month during winter months. Good thing is in San Diego, winter and summer are not that different in temp. I do that just to lube it. I also turn the AC off around 1 to 2 minutes before I stop the car to avoid stinky molding.

I'm pretty picky about AC systems... I've found that only Toyota and Honda have systems that are up to par for me. My Nissan and Subaru were horrible. It's been up to 108 here in Phoenix and the car cools down VERY quickly. if I'm in the car for more than 20 mins I can never have the fan set on anything other than Lo because it will freeze me out.

I have noticed more problems with AC since the car companies stoppe using freeon. Our 2004 corolla is the only new car that has stayed charged with the new fluid. My 2003 alero and my 2007 camry were dead right off the lot. I asked both mechanics if this was normal for a new car. Both replied yes. The alero and the camry were recharged and had die placed into them for leaks. No leaks were found on the alero and it lasted three years before it needed another charge. The camry has yet to be tested again for the leak, but I do need to have it recharged. I find the AC very annoying, but for some reason it seems to be common.

I like the Climate Control on the XLE. It seems to be a decent system. It will turn on the Recycle automatically when it is real hot then shuts it off when it isn't needed. I usually shut it off myself. However, the Camry's A/C is working just fine.

Mines takes a few mins to get really cold.

But I wish it was stronger but I'm not complaining either.

If you recirculate the air within the car and have it on max.. I found that's the fast way to cool down.

FWIW - I've been buying Toyotas since I was able to afford to add air conditioning and every one of them has had a common theme, the a/c sucks!

Now on my very first Honda product, the damn thing blows cold air as soon as it's started, even after baking in the sun all day and I have black leather interior too... Now I'm kinda thinking Toyota's screwed me in the A/C department for the past 15 years?

BTW - I have no idea how the TL blows cold almost as soon as the fan starts after keying the ignition??? We've had some scortchers too.
