Rear 6x9's Issue

I'm new to this forum and wanted to find out if anyone has had any issues with the trunk wire rubbing against their aftermarket 6x9's.. I bought a pair of Infinity Reference 9623i 6x9s to exchange my rear speakers out and had them installed at circuit city and as I was leaving the guy at circuit city told me the speaker depth is causing the trunk wire to rub against the bottom end of my speaker.. I'll post pictures of it if anyone needs an idea of what im talking about but I'd like to know if anyone knows how to stop this or if this is something that is normal and i should just disregard it.. thanks for the input!

Nitwit installer...

A quick spacer done right would have kept that from happening. Baffles won't help as they just increase your overall mounting depth.

Hey, I have the exact same speakers when I installed it 1 year ago. I also had the same problem with you have. I brought it back and the installed tried to bend the trunk wire. It took him about 1 hour. After that I don't hear nor feel the rubbing anymore.
The side front doors, he has to use spacer to fit inside the door though.
Good luck.

they decrease the mounting depth...but they increase the surface height...i don't see that being a problem since there is some headroom before it would hitthe panel cover. NOt only that but the back panel woud absorb much of the mid bass...and the speaker wouldn't sound as good as it should. Using a baffle and properly deading that area..would be the best choice.....baffles in essence are just spacers. How else would you fit deep mounting depths speakers into doors...with baffles...since they are overall the best choice.

i changed my 6x9 with the diamond audio d3's...i have the opening and closing problem too. But im just going to change them with 6.5" components, and add a spacer...u get clearer and louder with the round shaped components anyways...so, i would recommend just change them to components or try to add a spacer to your 6x9s or get a speaker with a magnet smaller than 3inches, bosten acoustics make pretty good thin 6x9s...the model is the SL95's, they have like a 2.5inch depth...GOODLUCK on your decision!!!
