for those unfortunate like me, u cant put aftermarket fogs in the OEM locations w/o doing some modifications to the front bumper.
i wanna install some fogs underneath the front bumper. seems like an easier install, just bolt-on the underside, no cutting.
my question is (for lighting experts), is that location too low to mount fogs? i mean, do they lose their lighting effectiveness if mounted under the bumper?
im sure people would debate on how aesthetic they will look. but jus wondering if this option is still functional. thnx in advance 4 any input.
it may be slightly too low, but you could always aim them up a little more. i would be more afraid of them scraping that low to the ground. if you're up for a little modification, you could try mounting them in the lower grill area. you would have to cut some of it out on each side, but that would be a better location for the fogs. there should be some pictures around showing this method.

^i don't think he wants to cut up his bumper jsut so he can put a small fog light. I;ve seen some in the lower grill openings on some gen5..not gen 5,5. Also..this was some time ago...but somone actually cut the fog cover...jsut to have a nice cut out for his piaa fog lamp to stick out.
If you're going to get aftermarket fogs, put them in the bottom front air dam. Then they'd be almost equal in height to stock, and you could still get functionality.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.
anyone remember the guy that put the aftermarket fogs in the front and cut the bumper a lil bit? I like that setup, they were udner the license plate i believe.

I believe it was Carlo$ he has the whole install on his car domain page.

It doesn't take alot of effort to install them in the factory location. You just need to cut the openings and then make some brackets out of angle aluminum.
I cut the factory fog light position, glued in OEM-style fogs, and everything came out fine.

Those would be $59 dollars shipped. Then using a dremel and the included hardware, there really isn't too much modification, you just need a steady hand with that dremel.
But if that's too difficult a project, then I agree with the others that under the license plate spread apart as far as they go.
About this far apart...
Either way, you gotta do some cutting.

^There's an adjustment screw in the back. The adjustment screw doesn't aim the entire fog lamp assembly... only the actual reflector inside. So its pretty easy to get a vertical alignment. The only trouble you'll have is with horizontal alignment. But if you cut the holes, it'll be pretty easy... just make the fogs flush with the bumper, and you should be fine in terms of horizontal aiming. Besides, its not as big of a deal with fogs as it is with headlamps.

I just glued them into the spots exactly the way that they fitted. If you cut correctly, it should fit directly in the foglight hole. In fact, it should be a little snug. Just make sure to cut the hole smaller than it is needed and make the hole bigger as you see fit. That way your hole should never be too big.
There are vertical adjustment screws on the back of the foglights just like on the headlights so you can always adjust the beam vertically. If you follow the outline in the bumper for the foglights, the worst that can happen is your beam is just a little off horizontally. It should be negligible.
