Gen6 "Clunking" in rear with TRD springs

Has anyone had any "clunking" in the rear when going over speed bumpsor pulling in and out of raised driveways after installing TRD springs? During normal road drive and minor road bumps, no noise. Just when the suspension travels 3-4". I'm wondering if this is normanl or maybe I have an install issue.

No noise from mine.

Any idea what could be causing it?

do you have the plastic "sleaves" on the srpings that came with them or were they taken off?
that's the only thing I could think of, if they were taken off the they might make a sound when strongly compressed

Could be a blown strut, or an improperly seated spring.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

I think I have the same problem, except on the front. The on-ramps and turns aren't entirely smooth where I am, so I'm starting to think I have a blown strut (front-driver's side). I've searched on this topic throughout the internet before, but couldn't really narrow it down to anything. There are several possible causes, from blown struts to the bearings?

Where would you guys take your car to, to get a legitimate diagnosis on suspension issues?

I left those sleeves on my springs and still have the clunking sound. If the sleeves weren't there, I don't think the noise from the springs slightly clanging together would sound like the clunking I'm hearing

I'm sure I know what your problem is. There is a spacer installed in the rear struts. It looks like a 1" long by 3/4" wide silver cylinder that goes over the rod at the top of the shock absorber. When your mechanic took apart the strut to install the TRD springs, he probably forgot to put the spacer back. The only reason I know this is that my mechanic made the same mistake on my right rear strut! When going over any kind of bump, there was a huge clunk. It's from the entire strut traveling upward and smaking against the frame of the car.

Go to this site and print the Suspension manual, the part is shown on page SP-38 labeled as "rear shock absorber collar".

I didn't have the knowledge or courage to do it myself the first time, but I just redid my front struts myself this past weekend, and I'm glad I did. My mechanic probably never referenced the service manual I left him, because the various strut parts were not put back aligned properly as per the manual. I might spend another weekend re-doing the rears.

Nate, if you can check the struts to see if it's leaking, if it is then it's a sign they are either already blown, or are leaking and will start making alot more noise.

Thanks for all of the advice. The car goes in tomorrow, back to Tuffy. Hopefully they will figure it out.
