Paint problem help!

I purchased touchup paint from my local toyota dealer to cover up a scrape on the lower front portion of my bumper. My 2007 camry le got chipped up pretty good as I was pulling into a spot and did not notice that the cement bumper was lifted up...talk about a heart breaker. I attempted to sand down the rough/sticking up edges but did not work well and the touch up paint seems very thin (which would be good for most touchups). It does not watn to cover. Any one have any ideas? Do I risk my paint peeling or anything or since it is not seen should I not be concerned. Please help because this is a heart breaker..thanks all.

Personally, I think you should forget about it since it can't be seen. You should see how many scrapes I have under my front bumper.

An good body shop may only charge $200-$300 to get it repainted and it would like new..

i cringed when i first gave my front bumper some road rash... but ya know... you feel a little better when that cherry is popped so at least now you don't freak out about keeping it in absolute mint condition. it's a car, curbs happen, shrug it off and smile that your camry still looks better than what you're parked next to.

Lightbulb seal it!

If its not in a noticeable location, like on the underside of the bumper, I would sand it down, clean it real good and use some clear spray paint to seal it. Use several coats for good measure (be careful of overspray or you'll be clay baring ur ride for hours!). That's what I would do, spend $5 as opposed to $200! Although, if it's something that can be seen, I would definitely take it to a body shop, but then you run the risk of color matching not quite right!

Good Luck

I did the exact same thing to my 07 around Christmas time. The car was 2 months old at the time. I did take it to a body shop I use and they charged me around $200 to repair it. It's really up to you.

I hear ya about the scrape!
Imagine how I felt when my girlfriend went way too fast into the underground garage (I was in passenger seat) and I heard a loud SCRAPE! I can't see the damage, but it is awefully rough under the front bumper. I'll probably leave it. Got the first one out of the way.

For a body shop try to look for an insurance certified one. See if you can see some of their work.

Your Camry color code should be on the driver side door panel.

Good Luck.
