5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm doing some exterior work lately since it's summer I want to get it all nice, decided to do my trunk lip and eyelids proper, but with the new RS grille I'm lost with the eyelids because they don't look as good as with the stock grille, but without them it seems weird also ( I don't like the huge bug eye look during the day) or night for that matter
let me know what you guys think for those of you who know how gen 5.5 lights look without the lids on
... one thing I was considering was cuting little semicircles in a way like many bmw eyelids have to make the eyelid itself thinner but still maintain the tickness on some parts, another thing was cutting it near the end of the lamp straight so it goes with the body line on the side, but it might look too thin I'm not sure
when they get painted they will match better since I did this in the winter with very limited space and tools and it came out to be a mess
here's a couple angles, give me some opinions if you can or pros cons etc... anything basically :-D
i would keep the eyelids.... i have the same ones ... i painted my RS grill.... black(where it used to be chrome) and the grill red and it looks really good... ill take some pics as soon as i wash the car... or give me your email address and ill email them to you

I like eyeids...but not on this car...for some reason these lids go too low. maybe if you could cut them so they could seem thinner..it would go with the car a bit better. I guess you call it a raised eyebrow. Thats just my opinon though.
cbra drop me the pics at mybullet@gmail.com when you get them, but I'm leaving it crrome and painting it black together with some other things , I'm leaving my car with some chrome, then original grey, and the black, think I'm doing my calipers and drums dark grey or something as close to my color as I can, still not sure about the chrome license plate, might do leave that chrome to leave the linear chrome going all around
btw webb I went with these because the camry lights are huuuge, and I loved them with the old grille, and the painted one I had even, but now with chrome it's a lil different, and I know what you mean about the thinner line now, thats what I was thinking, because some more chrome of the headlight goes well with the grille..hard to find the perfect like or style though now it's just kinda there
I don't like the look of the eyelids at all. I'd ditch that RS emblem also.
my trd one is comming in and replacing that in I'd say 2-3 days heh, plus the eyelids need a fresh coat they're a lil dull and with a bad primer but dunno, I'm not a fan of the original headlights having so much horizontal way heh
hehe a couple people mentioned that during the past couple of days already, thni kI'll have to take a look hehe, on the camrys with painted mirrors is the whole mirror painted or is the black rim around the mirror kept black i forget?
I thought about getting SE headlights but now I don't anymore I like some of the chrome look and that's pretty much the only light accent color I'm keeping besides the grey rims, rest is going all dark cept the red tail light part which I might smoke not sure but I liek the headlights it's just that they're huge heh
Your car looks like it is getting ready to take a nap. lol. Not really my taste but to each his own. SE headlights aren't completely black. They are actually accented with chrome - chrome reflectors and chrome rings on the black bezel. They might go really well with your car.
