5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hey guys I currently drive a 1997 Camry Le (4 cyl) and in the market for a new car. I narrowed it down to two cars 07 Accord EX-L (4 Cyl) and 07 Camry SE. My first question is can I get leather with the 2.4L on the SE or do I have to get the V6 in order to get leather as an option and does the SE have led tail lights? I was offered $22,000 without taxes and other fees for the 07 Accord which comes with leather, heated seats, cd changer, moon roof, led tail lights and so on. I want to pull the trigger on the camry but if i get the moonroof option it costs almost 25K without leather, heated seats. So I am torn between the two. My mom has an 05 accord Ex-l (4 cyl) and its a pretty solid car. Even though its a 4 banger it still moves pretty quickly. Sorry about the long post.
You came on to the Toyotanation forum and ask for opinion between Accord and Camry?
Put that aside, I think you should wait (if you could) for just a few months when Honda officically introduce the 08 Accord. Then it would be a fair comparision between 08 Accord and 07 Camry because they are both newly redesign.
To answer your question between 07 Accord and 07 Camry. Of course the 07 Camry SE is a chosen one.
About the leather, just go to toyota.com and enter your zipcode then see if you can get leather as an option for i4 SE. I think you can but you should double check.

Go for an accord, the people on their forums are a lot nicer . I think the styling for the new accord looks good but I'd still choose my camry over an accord any day.

I came up from a 97 Camry LE V6, and I was debating between the 07 Accord V6 or 07 Camry V6 SE as well. One of the reason why I didn't go Accord was because the 07 model would be the end of their generation, and I disliked the '08 Accord. I had my eye on the new Altima Coupe as well, but I've heard too much bad news about Nissan trannys.
I choose the Camry and haven't regret anything, even when I see a new Accord at the light next to me. The Camry's much more solid, and even the SE model plants to the ground better.
You actually could choose a manual transmission with the I4 SE, that would be fun.

My dad drove a '95 Camry (which I drive now) and he was set on buying an '07 Camry. When it came down to it he decided to check out the '07 Accords. After test driving both engines on both cars he told me that if he went with the Accord he'd go with the 4 banger, but he'd have to go with the V6 on the Camry. My point is, if you're going with the 4 cylinder and you're looking for a sporty car the Honda might be the way to go. Just be sure to test drive both and see what you like the most personally.
By the way, my dad ended up getting a V6 Accord EX-L. The Honda dealers were alot more willing to work with him on the price. With the '08 Accords coming out fairly soon you could probably get a pretty nice deal on an '07. Just remember: Test drive!
Yeah, I think the only thing you can do is test drive both cars and see which one you like the best. We had the exact same problem as you did back in 05. I think we test drove both cars about 4 times each to get a good feel for the car. In the end we went with the Accord because we found the style of the 05 Camry to be a bit boring. That and the Toyota salesperson ticked us off and Honda was more then willing to deal. The 07 Camry's look pretty sweet though.
its stupid not buying a car because you don't like the dealer. who gives a sh...t about them! its not like they will follow you home and stay with you.
I purchased an 07 Accord in August of last year. Wanted to try something different since I already had an 07 V6 Camry. I hated it so much I sold it back to the dealer 5 months later. Went and purchased an I4 Camry. Although I have already sold it for an LS430, it was a much better car.
Things I didn't like about the Accord:
1. The ride. Although sportier and handled better, it was nowhere near as smooth and refined as the Camry.
2. Road Noise. Nowhere near as quiet as the Camry. Lots of tire noise filtered into the cabin on less than perfect pavement. Engine noise was also a lot more noticeable.
3. The center stack. Looked old and didn't make a lot of sense. Materials looked very cheap.
4. The seats. Way too firm and they squeeked like crazy the entire time I owned it. Very poor lower back support.
The good thing is that I didn't lose a lot of money selling it back, since I negotiated a very good price up front.

true, but a crappy dealership won't treat you right financially, and that will follow you home from the dealership. Its best not to buy new cars. I'd go with the ford fusion v6 AWD if I was going to buy a new midsized vehicle though. Subaru would be a good look as well. AWD way too nice to pass up. Sucks toyota stopped making an awd version of the camry past my generation

Compared to Subaru awd the Fusion sucks ass. Hell the Fusion awd is not all that, I passed 2 awd Fusions stick in the snow last winter.

+1 Agree 100%

thanks for the posts but when I went to toyota.com and tried to build the i4 se there were only two options. Both had the moon roof, bluetooth, JBL upgrade, and so on the only difference was trunk and floor mat set or rear lip spoiler. If you choose the v6 then there are several options which include leather. I am going to schedule a test drive soon. Again thanks for the opinions.
You can also have leather installed after you buy the vehicle. The factory is not the end of the road. If the picture above is the look of the new '08 Accord, I think it is butt ugly. As far as exterior, Accord has always been super plain and that is one of the reasons why I have never taken an interest to Honda. Now their Acura line is a completely different story.
If I were you and money was not a major issue, I would instead be comparing the Camry SE to an Acura TL. They are in different classes but have sparked a lot of comparison lately mainly. The Camry has become a little bit of competition for the TL due to the price range proximity and performance numbers. Last time I checked a fully loaded Camry was a few thousand dollars cheaper than a TL.
Anyways, enough rambling from me. Test drive both as many times as you need. Both cars should be reliable.
Why does everyone want LED tail lights? I don't understand.
