Gen6 Flat Tire Sensor

I have a 2007 CAMRY XLE V6 with 20"Giovannas w/ 235/35/20 nitto neo gen tires. I have a problem with the flat tire sensor. The shop that put my rims on said that if they put the tire sensors back on to the new rims it would cause my tires to leak air. Is that true or should I just go to another shop that will put the sensors back on. Does anyone with 20's have this problem to? THANKS!!!

WTF!!! Why would swaping out your TPMS cause your tires to leak air??

I used to have the sensors on these 20" Gazario. I never had any leakage. I sold it to a member of this forum and he still has them on without any leakage.

I had my sensors "swapped" out on my after market rims too. The only thing they told me might happen is the dash light might stay on if they didn't put them back in just like they were originally. (We even wrote down all the numbers on all the sensors for each tire/rim in case I had to take it into the dealership) I haven't had a problem. Works like a charm...

well, i have been going around different forums, one thing you can do is design a sealed canister where you can store your sensors and put 32 psi of pressure in there

There are very few aftermarket rims that will not accept the TPMS sensors. If your aftermarket rims really won't fit your stock sensors, then Toyota makes a different (flatter) version of the TMPS if you really feel the need to install them.

Same with me, I have yet to see a light come on in about 1000 miles.
