Bubbles within Windshield glass

Took my Camry Hybrid in for its first oil change yesterday morning.

Came out and noticed that there are bubles inside the windshield glass --- I checked from outside and inside the car.. I can't feel anything.. So I'm pretty sure it's within the glass itself.

Could the dealer have caused some kind of damage? Something got hit? Microscopic fractures? I don't know how it could have happened otherwise.

But it's bubbling inside, so it makes me wanna think it's a defect.

If it is actually a bubble and in the glass then it is a manufacturing error and certainly the dealer had nothing to do with causing it. I must assume that the sun was shining on it at just the right angle for light to refract from it. If it is on the edge or a corner out of normal sight, I might consider letting it go. A replacement windshield, no matter how skillfully installed, just never seems to be quite as clean and good as the original, so you might consider waiting until you get a nice rock right in the driver vision area before replacing it.

I'm thinking it's a manufacturing defect to have bubbles inside.. but I've had the car for 7 months and it only showed up this weekend. Changing temps perhaps? From the driver's seat it's in the 11 o'clock line of sight, right beside the A-pillar. it's noticeable. The bubbles are in a line, so I can forsee that becoming a full-fledged crack.

Get the magnifying glass out and take a really close look to the outside surface of the glass after you have Windexed both sides and wiped both sides very clean. Glass isn't soft. The bubbles didn't just happen, so you either had them from day one and hadn't noticed them or you have a very small series of chips on the surface.

dealer is replacing the windshield, but waiting for the glass and moldings as they are out of stock. Not sure where it would be shipped from, but we have to wait.

I definately would get the dealer to replace it under warranty.

Hate to find out down another 6 months, that there's more bubbles.

Whoa, those are weird. Looks like a series of crystals growing in the laminate.
