5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
We decided we are going to get an 07 Camry. Its going to be white and its going to have a V6 - problem is I dont know what body package I want. I think I want the SE (ground effects, better performance springs, etc) , but my wife wants the LE grill (I'm assuming its an easy swap) - feel free to weigh in on whatever you like or dislike about your cars appearance!!
I'm really leaning towards a SE with the ground effects, rear spoiler, fog lights and a nice set of 20" black rims with the chrome ring around the outside. Tint up the windows a bit and drop a sub in the trunk...
Se is nice if you like the sporty look and drive.
XLE is nice if you like extra features in your car.
LE is nice if you don't want to spent too much money.
What else does your wife not like about the SE besides the grille? If it's only the grille, and seems like you like the SE, then that should be your choice.
You can always get a LE or XLE grille to replace it, or maybe even a Hybrid grille.

I have ordered an 2007, will be here in the next week or so. Why should I have waited for the 2008? I know it is late season 2007, but we drive our cars for a long time, and I am not sure the resale value would change greatly if it were a 2008, rather than an 2007. Who knows.
I liked the SE V6 better than the XLE because I thought the XLE had too much stuff.
The dual climate controls for example, seemed a little more complex than I needed.
I also liked the tighter handling of the SE over the XLE
But in the end, you just have to drive them both and see which one feels better to you.

I prefer the SE, looking back it would have actually been cheaper to get the SE then to get the LE and buy rims, spoiler, better/lower springs. IMO I like the SE grill, but if she likes the LE then it can be swapped if you can find an LE grill.
I drove an LE and didn't like the softness of the suspension. The XLE has the same suspension.
I much prefer the looks of the SE over the LE / XLE
Therefore it was an easy choice.
Don't let something easthetic drive your purchase - it's right in saying that you will be driving these cars for a long time, something like the grill style will grow on you, or you can change it down the line.
It's also a lot easier to switch out a grill than adding a bodykit or new suspension or dual climate control
get an XLE or Hybrid...I see too many SE/LE's on the road.
The only real difference on the outside is that the XLE has chrome trim around the grille, but other then that they look identical to the LE's. With the exception that most XLE's have fog's and a moonroof.
