headlight beam pattern question

hey guys, i'm trying to make my beam pattern for my headlights proper and i had some questions...

does your driver side headlight's beam start out further than your passenger side? this is in reference to you sitting in the driver side...

also, does your foglight beam pattern overlap with your low beams? if so, about how much would you say?

ok that is all. thanks guys.

What do you mean the left light starts out further? If you mean the light beam pattern from your left light scatters moreso to the left as compared to the right beam pattern scattering to the right...then yes.

My right beam scatters less to the right than my left does to the left.

Yes, my foglights "combine" with my low-beams. But the fogs only light up like 3 meters in front of my car. The xenons get the rest forward. That's how they're supposed 2 be.

k after reading, i figure some photos are needed heh.

went out and took some pics

my new cutoff, i reaimed my headlamps because when I got someone to drive in front of me, through their rearview mirror, the driver side looked more blue then the passenger side because the cutoff on the driverside was higher and the colour part of the cutoff was creating the look that the lights were aimed up and down

same cutoff, but with the car further away from the wall

picture of the lights hitting the ground

strange 'flower pattern' i have in the driverside projector, only shows when the lights are on,

same cut off picture as the first two

pic of the lights hitting the ground from the point of view of inside the car centre, as you can see from the red line i drew the driverside lights hit the ground a bit before the passenger side.

same cutoff pic but with the car about 1.5 metres from the wall

thanks akide. that pic with the red lines is what i was looking for. mine is the opposite even though my passenger side cutoff is actually higher than my driverside.

yeah, i've been playing around with the adjustments (btw, for anyone who wants to know. moving the teeth in the direction of the driver's side aims the lamps up and moving towards the passenger's side aims the lamps down). i just didnt know which would be "more forward" so to speak.

akide, your driver's side headlight actually looks waaay too high. The top of the cutoffs on the driver's and passenger's side should be even. There will always be more light up high on the passenger side where you need it to light up road signs because of the step in the cutoff. You do not need to aim it higher. You are actually producing glare.

You guys should never have had to adjust the height of the headlights from stock. Both projectors should be the same height as stock with the same cutoff. The only difference is the squirrel spotters should no longer be visible.

The cutoff does look better on the second picture but the cutoff is only accurate if it is about 20-25 feet away from the wall.

The passenger side light can be a little bit higher for increased roadside visibility but it's really not supposed to be. That is why the cutoff is designed to have a step. So the beam can be even on both sides but there is more light up high on the right side of the road where you need it most. There should be little to no light from the passenger side projector above the driver side projector cutoff because that means it is too high.

On European vehicles, the step is on the other side to light up the roadside signs which are on the left side of the road.
