5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Toyota / TRD Australia just announced the specs for the (2008/2009??) TRD Aurion and all I can say is that I AM JEALOUS OF THE AUSSIES. This thing is hotter than the Aurion Sportivo SX6.
The regular 3.5L V6 gets "force-fed via Eaton's new twin-vortices supercharger", which is expected to bump up the not-to-shabby 268HP to around 320HP.
I'm right there with you Buckeye. That car is ridiculously sick. Our Camry's are seriously lacking some good design compared to the TRD Aurion.
I atleast want to get my hands on those wheels and I wonder if the V6 Supercharger will become available to the USA market or will be have to get it through an Aussie back door?

I don't remember where I read this, but I thought I remembered reading that the U660E 6 speed automatic we have in our 2007 V6 Camrys, is designed for a maximum of 295hp.
If this is true, would it be wise to install a supercharger on a 268hp Camry and up the horsepower to 320hp?

I also agree that our US version is actually better when it comes to styling. The TRD Aurion just simply is a completely different car to me. I bought the Camry because I wanted a sedan with nice styling. The TRD Aurion looks like so many other cars we see on the road especially the older body style Audi and the new Volvo's. It's pretty fun to think of the Camry with possibly a supercharged 3.5 V6, but the car is still a family sedan so for me it's not too important. If I was looking for performance I probably would have never even considered the Camry to begin with. I'm sure many would rather spend a little more and buy an IS series instead, if something like this would make it to the states.
The Aurion has better styling cues to me. Integrated bumper/exhaust. Overall better body kit with graphite accents on front and back bumper. LED taillights, side mirror mounted turning signals, more sport-inspired wheel/tire package, HID headlamps.
To top it off... it even has dark-red sport seats. Other than it is basically a Camry.

^It is basically a sporty "Avalon-like" Camry. They don't have the Avalons down in Australia so they made up for it by making the Camry more than just a family sedan. It is a sporty sedan with luxury features.

The Aurion is a really sweet car, and that supercharger sweetens the deal.
But you have to look at the price as well. For the bottom of the line Aurion, it would cost $28,573 USD. And for the top of line sporty model, it would cost $35,920 USD.
question: Would the rear bumper with the built in exhausts from the aurion fit my camry? I know that i would have to adjust some exhaust pipes to make it fit and all, but I think it look HOT on my SE!
Not exactly. The U.S. version Camry is sold in Australia alongside the Aurion. The Aurion was made to replace the Avalon which never quite sold very well in Australia. And I dont think Lexus is offered in Australia either (I could be wrong now) and if so, the Aurion will be made to be a higher-end vehicle.
You are right. Thanks for the correction.
