5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
For those of you that have traded in your '07 Camry's, could you please provide Model traded and price you received? I'm debating on trading in my loaded SE for a '07 G35. I'm on the fence. Although I know I'll get raped, I had alot of equity when I purchased the car from my previous car that was totalled.

You'll get raped.
Equity means nothing because you;ll still losing money one way or another.
Do a work up with www.kbb.com.
Figure up to 5% less than they quote.
My XLE with 7500 miles works out to around $8K under list.
KBB on mine comes to trade in value of $20,575. MSRP was $32k. It doesn't provide for the XM and Remote Start options, but that isn't a huge adder.
BTW, mine is an SE V6 w/everything including NAV.
How many miles are on yours? Because my LE V6 with no options (except floor mats), comes to $20,275 trade-in value (paid $22,971), and it has about 3700 miles. And private party is $22,045.

I have 27k miles. After seeing your note, I re-ran it with 10k miles (standard mileage per KBB) and it came back as $22,150.

I traded my 07 SE V6 for $24K even in December, it had everything except navi, was 3.5 months old and had 3700 miles on it. I traded for a spanking new 06 TL-navi that priced just under $30K.
On the G35 - -
This last week I had a 2007 G35 sedan rental while we stayed in Key Biscayne, FL... My overall impression???
Its a MAJOR POS, I have absolutely no G35 envy in the slightest, my TL is light years ahead of the G in every way... Here are a few examples of what I don't like on the G.
- Map pockets or lack thereof, the TL's are more than twice the size
- Cup holders, while they're not like the truck/SUV holders I'm used to, the TL once again has a much better execution
- Ambiance Lighting, in the G these are bright white LEDs and they give off waaaay too much light compared to the blue lights in the TL
- Unintuitive controls - I kept changing the driver's side tempurature anytime I wanted to change the radio volume.
- Huge display in the G, but would limit song information to two words and scroll the rest, dumb.
- The steering wheel moves up and down WITH the instrument cluster, OK?
- Outside mirrors are not tinted
- Leather seats, but no heaters? (was in FL, maybe that makes a difference?)
- No auto-dimming mirror
- Analogue clock????
- Ashtrays?
- Goofy outside mirror adjuster and no tilt down feature when backing up.
- SUV ride feeling, I really felt propped up, like driving a truck
- As soon as I opened a window, outside air would overpower the airconditioned cabin air, this was instantly a blast of heat, have yet to experience the same in the TL on hot days.
- Tiny, tiny, tiny Multi-Information Display, also hard to read with red lighting
- cheap steering wheel controls with GM-like window switches for toggle buttons
- small center console with a weird ducting deal to blow rear air through the lid/arm rest
- Thin doors that "tinked" when closed, not at all vault-like as found in Toyota and Acura
- Cheap popup wind deflector for the sunroof, the Camry's is nicer
- Fog lights were absolutely useless
- No gas cover release mechanism
I'm sure there was a few more gripes, I've forgotten... Some were basically asthetics like the spartan interior compared to the fighter-jet-like interior of the TL.
I did however take away a couple of likes...
- The seats are comfortable, better than the TL seats IMO
- I like the Fob holder for the keylees ignition
- Rear Wheel Drive
...- The seats are comfortable, better than the TL seats IMO...
Must be an update post MY06. I test drove a 2006 G35 sedan, and it was the most uncomfortable seat I have ever been in. The toggle switch located on the inner bolster of the drive seat was cutting into my thigh.

What was the "toggle swich?" maybe for the seat heaters?
Seat comfort is pretty subjective... I drove from Miami to Key West (and back) and the G seats fit me pretty well with minimal fooling around. I think my TL seats are giving me the sciatica problems I've been having since I bought it.

I forget if it was the heaters or power seat buttons. I just remember thinking it was the worst position possible.
Edit: I found a picture thanks to Google. It is the 8 way adjustments:

Sounds like you drove the base model. Most of the missing controls like heated seats, mirrors, memory, all come in the higher models. No need for tilt down when they have a back up camera.

He drove a 06, the new bodystyle is a 07. They completely redesigned the car in and out and the seat controls next to the center console was a major complaint. It pushed up on peoples legs in the wrong spot where the nerve got irritated. They moved them to the left side next to the door where normal cars have them.
You know, this is interesting. I am also having Sciatica nerve problems in my left leg that started up a few months ago and got real bad recently to the point of getting MRI and Xrays done with Therapy now.. Driving the TL it hurts the most with my left leg. Haven't found a position to put the seat in to keep it from pressing up on the bottom of my leg so hard. Makes me wonder now.

Yes! It is my left leg as well... I think just yesterday I've pinned it down to the seat heater.
The G I drove had the controls in the traditional spot.
