5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
As you know I have spent a lot on mods for my car. With about 60lbs of dynamat I had 1 rattle that was hard to find. My dealer drove my car for about 2 days, found the rattle. It is a shaft inside the steering shaft .... they ordered the part and it will be here in a few days. Perfect timing, since I am on vacation until next week. They are covering this for free under warranty and are going way out of their way to make me happy. My rule is that you build relationships, I have a great relationship with my dealer and couldn't be happier. I can't wait to get back from vacation and get my car back
Cool deal. My service manager does the same for me, goes out of his way to help and make sure i'm satisfied and happy. So do most of the mechanics. I had light issues and they came out, for 2 days straight worked on my car, until it was fixed and sent me on my way, no charge, they even showed me what to do if it happens again.
From the first time i walked in to the dealer (interested in the camry, that is), to the time i drove the car off the lot, i spent only a few hours. Of course i knew almost everything about the camry, and i knew exactly what i wanted. The car is great, the dealer is great, i'm happy...
Guys lets keep this thread nice and clean, without arguments, life threats, and party crashers.
The sales person that helpped my dad for hours/days on end, helpped me as well he's a great guy. Everytime i go in i make sure i say hello and see how he's doing, as he does me. and he always goes and checks my car to see what mods i've done on it lol. and he laughed when i told him i hit two birds in a week

Same here! It is vital that we as customers BUILD a relationship like you stated. A lot of people just expect everythng handed to them. Striving for a working relationship is the difference between Service and Exceptional Service!
I too am very satisfied with my Lansing Michigan Toyota Dealer. Right now my car is running just fine. When we get back from vacation after the 4th of July the Service Manager wants to re-apply my protection packages 6 months early....Just Because. He likes me and he too likes to give good service. Allow the opportunity for people to give. Most people really enjoy making others happy. It is "natural" to do so. Do we not enjoy giving gifts to our freinds and loved ones on certain holidays? Same applies here as well.

I am glad that you are happy with your dealer, but did you have to install 60lbs of dynamat to get rid of rattles and squeeks? I am still concerned that you have one in the steering column of a new car.
No troll here, I love the Gen6 and would buy one in a minute if there weren't these nagging problems. I own a rock solid 95 le and have never had a problem or any concerns with this fine automobile. My hope is that the 08 will be trouble free and I can purchase one with out wondering about the build quality. I will find one with the square plug in the front bumper!

I installed 60lbs of dynamat because I installed a shitload and a half of bass in the trunk. Well nothing is perfect and for the rattle ... I would bet that 80% of the owners out there wouldn't even hear the one that is my car. I probably added a couple rattles, but I can assure you of one thing ... if I am playing my ssystem loud in my car you won't be laughing because the entire back of the car sounds like it is going to rattle off .... it is fraking solid!!!
With all the electronics is these new cars you are gonna have a very hard time finding a car that will not have some kind of problem at some point. My previous car a 2006 Passat, if you looked at it sideways it would throw a CEL - hahahhaha Between my Camry and the Passat .... I am very pleased with the choice I made.
I had a 1987 Yugo GV for 7 years and put 127k miles on it ... it cost me $3000 new, never gave me any problems ..... but not everyone had that kind of luck.
