5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
just go to the dealership and say you're interested in trading it in.. and see what they offer and how much more you have to pay, they're not holding a gun to your head to make the deal.
Just FYI, you've lost far, far more than $2000 by going off the lot.
In other words, such a swap will hit you REALLY hard. Toyota is well known for buying used cars for unreasonably low prices, and then re-selling them at 95% of the new-car cost.
I remember a few years when I got a Toyota Echo, at first I thought I'd score a lightly-used one and save money. LOL visited a couple of places, and found that the used ones were selling for just $1000-2000 less than a brand new one.
Same thing goes with all their pre-owned models.
Oh, and don't go for a V6 LE. At least get an SE!

I bought a 07 le in July 06 and decided that I wanted a xle this past April. Needless to say I finalized the trade for my 07 XLE on May 1, 2007. My 07 le had 16,000 miles on it and they gave me $21,000 for the car. I only had to come up with $1500 and so I took the XLE for more luxury features. All that to say it just depends on your dealership and saleman. I told my salesman up front that my Le was in good condition and I needed the XLE at $22,500 and she did it plus tax. So, you might be suprise at what you might get for your car. I would not recommend going back to your original dealer because they are not going to give you the amount you want or need to make you happy. Also, I would do my homework on the cars before you go so you know the going price for the le/se v6 before you buy. Lastly try to make a deal at the end of the month because sometimes the dealerships have to make their quota and will make stupid deals. Good Luck!!

Are you saying you got a new 07 XLE V6 for $22, 500??

Wow... awesome. Can't say I will be able to get that deal.
$1500 comes includes taxes?
Is it clearance time, is supply a factor right now?
I "lost" about $1500.00 on my LE trade in when I swapped out for the XLE. Worth it though for the most part. The XLE was the General Manger's Demo so it had 6K on it and I got it for 25K.

Sounds like you had an interesting time there, lol.
I saw an '07 Camry with those TRD rims at the dealership near me as well, and while they look nice, they arent worth $2K IMO.
I know you said you were looking at upgrading to the V6, but if I were you I would be looking at the low-end SE with pretty much no options, which you should be able to get for $25K MSRP. But if all you care about is the V6, why not get the LE V6 which I got for $23K.
So I went by a Toyota dealership today to inquire about trading in my SE I4 for an SE V6. I knew more than likely I wasn't going to leave there with a new car but I didn't have anythng to lose.
When I got there I knew exactly who to talk to because he was part of the internet sales team and I had inquired about a specific SE V6 from their online inventory. So the guy asks me was I dead set on getting another Blue Ribbon Camry because they didn't have any but they could have one shipped free of cost if it really boiled down to it. I told him it wasn't a must but it was preferred. He told me they had a White SE V6. It was the one I had inquired about online earlier. Now the car was being advertised for $27,300. It was pretty much fully-loaded except for navigation. He informed be the car already had 2,000 miles on it but it wasn't a big deal. Skipping ahead he claims the car was already discounted for the 2K miles on it but I'm pretty sure that was a lie because it was the same price as all the other SE V6s in their online inventory.
Going back now, the Camry was nice. It was Super White and it had the 18" TRD rims on it. Through the entire sales process he kept trying to use the "TRD rims" as a huge selling point of the car. Saying that it would be very "unique" and that the TRD packaged Camry's had extra features that regular SE's didn't. I'm pretty sure that was a blatant lie because i've never heard that before. I'm sure the TRD rims are the only difference. Anyway, a problem arose when they were trying to price the vehicle. Apparently the TRD rims weren't added to the final price of the car so now i'm told the total cost of the car is 29K really close to 30K. They appraised my car which has 13.5K miles on it and they said they could give me 18K...KBB said my car should have been worth 19.3K but whatever. I initially paid 23.5K for the car.
When I began to show skepticism over the price of the car, of course they attacked full-force and tried every sales tactic of convincing they could to get me in that car. I told them it wasn't happening because they monthly payments they were talking about was outrageous. They even claimed they would reduce the price of the TRD rims from over $2,000 to just $600! Thats how pressed they were. And on top of that they were willing to let me drive off without putting a down-payment and they told me I could send them the down-payment "AT MY CONVENIENCE"! They REALLY wanted that sale. If you could have saw the look of disappointment on EVERYONE'S face when I told them I couldn't afford the car. It looked like someone had just told them their mother died or something. I actually felt bad lol. But to that dealerships credit they really did get the monthly payments down for me...almost by $100. But it still wasn't happening.
But I just wanted to share my experience. Nothing major about my post. Just a wild 3 hours of my life. If anyone can see anything fishy in my story let me know. It seems like everyone in my area is selling the SE V6 for about 27.3K. I've talked to three different dealerships and that the price I got. And thats supposed to be the "REDUCED INTERNET PRICE"! I'm like damn, how much more would it be if I wanted navigation?
You tried and now you know. Thanks for sharing your experience.
