that makes things quite difficult then...
have any of you guys used a 6.5" with an adapter for the front speakers yet?
I am pretty sure nobody has done that to their Gen6 yet, but I know these adapters exist. I think Crutchfield carried them.
Speaking of preouts...suppose I wanted to add a sub in the trunk. I have the JBL audio. If there are no pre-outs, then I guess the only way to get the audio signal and "auto-on" would be to tap into the rear speaker wires, right?

Those adapters or plates would be easy to make with a scroll saw an a piece of MDF or other wood.
You can get a line-level converter that will take the signal from your rear speakers and attenuate it to the level needed for an amp. Some amps have high-level in so you may not need the line level converter.

I have. I got adapters in place for the 2 front speakers. I replaced my stock speakers with JBL speakers. I did not buy the JBL system when I bought my LE.

so theoretically, i can either make my own mdf adapter for the front which would carry the 6.5", and for me to be able to use a subwoofer, i would need a line level converter which would tap on to the rear speakers, but thereby "killing" my rear speakers too right?
wel if your going to put new speakers better put power to them with a amp or u wont get wat ur paying for cuz they wont get the power they need to run there full potential and as for a subwoofer. tapping into ur back speakers wont do nothing u would need a HILOW converter that connects to ur stock headunit and gives u pre outs to run rca's to a amplifier that wil power ur subwoofer hilow converter only run like 20bux.

Here's the cadillac line-out converter:
MTX re-Q Bass restoration signal processor. It has both high and sub output. Basically most of your factory radios now have a feature that limits the bass the more you turn up your radio in order to save the speakers and give you less distortion. This also limits your subwoofer signal if you're adding an amplifier. This unit takes care of that and also boosts your rca output to your amplifier. This unit also gives you the delayed remote output to turn your amp on.

oh i know i need amps for it. i have something lined up already. i just wasnt sure what else i need. ive done lots of audio setups before but none that had needed hi-low converters because i always switched out the headunit. im just thinking along the lines of keeping my headunit stock this time around, to see what my options would be
