Toyota quality is better than Acura

112 problems per vehicle for Toyota
130 problems per vehcile for Acura

What has happened to Acura? Now they are below the industry average. Kia and Hyundai are higher rated. Acura is even below Chevy, Buick, and Ford.

How is this an attack? Just posting the numbers from JD Power. Non-premium brand Toyota being rated higher than premium brand Acura is pretty awesome.

Interestingly enough...

I counted two MAJOR rebuilds/overhauls needed on my 07 SE V6 within 3700 miles... So bad were these issues, I personally took a financial hit to get away from the Camry.

Today my TL sits about ready to turn 6000 miles and the only 2 issues were 2 scraped wheels at delivery and the tech ripped the map pocket with his boot fixing the wheels.

????

What you need to understand about these charts.

1. They don't track the same exact 100 vehicles - Instead it's a value based upon total sales and total problems.

2. Acura and Toyota are not on the same playing field saleswise, Acura and Lexus maybe, but even then considering the most expensive Acura only hits about $40K (NSX doesn't count, they make like 5 a year) whereas the most expensive Lexi hits $80K

Statistics are goofy like that, there's never been a solid statistic.

Actually, now that I've researched it a little more, this isn't really a surprise. In initial quality, Toyota was also better than Acura in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
