Stereo removal / instllation

I am upgrading my 2006 6 disk factory stereo with a 2007 MP3 compatable unit from Toyota.

I am having the hardest time trying to figure out how to remove my current stereo. I understand that there are mounting screws behind the A/C controller and the vents. But how do I get to them without sticking a screwdriver in and prying the units out? I do not want to mess up my car.

Any and all help is much appreciated!!!!!

^You have to stick a screwdriver in and pry the HVAC unit out.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

just use a taped up screwdriver, pry it out on the right and left hand sides. there are push in clips holding it.

the piece around the radio you will have to put force into it. it will feel like you are breaking it but u gotta keep pulling. there are clips on the right and left hand sides, along with center top, so pull in those locations.
