Anyone with a v6 camry in California w/ or w/o the flare or has the flare fixed?
I was trying to get an estimate of who may have the flare fixed or not fixed. Since the ES350 has the same transmission, I have not read about anyone in california to have had the flare fixed or not have the flare at all of initial purchase. Can anyone help? Or anyone have a late build camry se v6 in california? THanks.
I do not think there are statistics on how many of the 6 speed autos have flares, or the "snap ring failure." Toyota never disclosed on what serial numbers were affected or announced any recalls either. Nor have they announced on what the problem is; how can some of Camry's (identical) have the issue(s) and some do not?
However, I think out of the 400k? 07 Camry V6's sold so far, not that many have the "flare" or snap-ring failure issue, probably less than 1%?, but that's a guess.
Purchased mine in 04/06, 16.5k miles so far and never had the issues as described by others in this forum and edmunds forums. 07 Camry V6 LE, orange county, ca.
Probably most people that have the flare dont even know it, since they probably arent knowledgable in cars and think that it's normal. I have the flare but since it's summer I rarely see it on a cold start. Once the winter comes though, it's going to be a different story.
white3ch0c0late, Good for you! I suspect the flare has a lot to do with how you drive. They reflashed my TCM and it has been working rather normally since. There have been at least 4 different versions of the computer firmware so far, so they are still working on it.
For proteus220, where did you get 400k V6 Camrys from? Last I checked, the vin numbers for the Japanese and both Kentucky lines were each in the 35-40k range, so that would put the count closer 120,000 units for the year. My dealer admitted that quite a few people were having problems with the tranny flare earlier on but not so much now on the newer cars. Maybe they have it figured out.

"People who think they know it all are particularly irritating to those of us who do."
You are correct, it was an oversight on my part....I forgot that all 07 Camry's are not V6 (brain fart,) and just referred to the total 07 Camry sales (4 cylinder + 6 cylinder.)
