Well, If I'm correct, because we Gen 5'ers also have a grey/black trunk tray in our trunk, thats for like Grocery(Gallon milk, water)

I keep my Toyota OEM Oil Filters and my wheel lock key in there for easy access when I do self-services to my car

in the gen5 they are shaped to hold those 2L pop bottles. i believe i have a paper towel roll in there. havent opened my trunk for a while.
